Default Hera revisited

I was lucky enough to be the first in line when Ryan posted in his build thread that he was thinking of selling Hera... once again, being an RCC junkie pays off

My plan is to build Hera over the winter... I'm thinking January or February.
Here's a quick preview sitting on top of my Wraith axled Rock Rider with 1.9's and a 14.5" wb. I think it looks surprisingly scale with the 1.9" Super Swampers.

The current plan is:
Class 3 comp truck
14" wb
Wraith axles
Summit trans
14T Puller/BR-XL
4s/6s depending on event
2.2" Pit Bulls

More to come.

NICE!

Looking forward to seeing more with it!

Was it a trans into a transfer, or was there a trans under the driver?
What WB did he run with it?

Ryan was running a Summit trans with a monster brushless system.
The original wb was 13.5".

ok, I'm finally going to start building Hera.
I've been really wanting to get to it but was trying to finish several other builds first, and start a new C2 rig. I decided to finally pull the trigger and tear down my Wraith axled Rock Rider basher.

I have been slowly collecting parts, I have:
  • Wraith Axles with Universals
  • 1 set of VP Knuckles
  • 2 sets of Biggin's Beef Tubes
  • a used Holmes Hobbies 14t Puller
  • bought a new BR-XL yesterday
  • the Summit Transmission from my scx10, Buxom Melons
  • Savox SC-1268SG (347oz @ 7.4v) or Savox SC-1256TG (277oz @ 6v) for front steering
  • Savox SC-0251 (222oz @ 6v) for rear steer
  • Futuba 4PL and 4 channel rx
  • Pro-Line 2.2 TSL's (I may go with Pit Bull or the new IROK's)

I still need:
  • Mayhem Engineering Double Phattys, Black
  • 2 full sets of VP Wraith CHubs and 1 more set of VP Knuckles
  • A servo winch
  • servo for the light bar
  • led's for the light bar
  • Shocks

I have to look back through Ryan's thread to see if he used more then 4ch to control everything
I have a 4PL.
I've been thinking that I may be able to tie the light bar servo into the trans shifting servo... so when I go to 2nd, the lights automatically retract and flip up when shifting to first.

I tore down the Rock Rider and started Hera last night after our comp.
I recycled the RR's links by swapping some Jato/Revo rod ends around.
This is temporary but give's me a place to start.

I was getting worried about drive shaft clearance but after looking closely at the Summit trans mount... the output's will sit so low in the chassis, it looks like it'll work out great.
Damn good work Ryan

I picked up 6 Mayhem Engineering wheels tonight. 2 Ultimate Comp, 2 Double Phatties and 2 Spiders. They all have solid black comp rings. I think the solid beadlock will look great against the detailed tube work.

Here's a few pics next to my C3 scx10 (with donor transmission) for reference.

I think the rear will come in .5".
The front end is just resting on the axle.

sorry for the blurry pics...

Last night I made links for the front so both axles are mounted now. I also mounted 2 of the TSL's to my Double Phaties... they are a lot narrower than the Axial 2.2's.
My front track width is 11.25".
The wb is currently 14.75", I need to shorten the rear links at least .5", I stole them from the Rock Rider, and maybe the front .25".
Right now I've got Wraith shocks on the front and Traxxas 4" on the rear... I'll put the other 2 Wraith socks on the rear tonight.
It's riding kind of high for my taste, I may go down to scx10 shocks but I have to figure out steering first.

Last night I ordered a set of VP Knuckles, 2 sets of CHubs for 4ws and 2 sets of backup HH brushes for the 14T Puller.

Lookin good so far man. I am running the 7t puller on my Wrecked wraith with a 16t pinion and it has awesome wheel speed and torque out the wazoo! I agree that it sites a little high (mine does to) I am trying to decide wether or not to run 3.5" big bores or the 4".

I reworked the front links.
The driveshaft seems to clear and I think the cms will move freely...
Current wb is 14.5". I'll bring the rear in .375"-5".
I swapped out the front Wraith shocks for Traxxas 3.5" with soft springs.
Fully loaded Mayhem Ultimate comp wheels in the front and loaded Double Phattys in the rear. I think I'll need the new IROK's if I stay with the U-Comp wheel... those inner weights are tall!

Also, Hera's latest sacrifices arrived today... 4ws
