Default First Real R/c...and It's a Hummer

Yea, I'm modifying it into a crawler/hardcore trail rig. It'll be very scale, as that's what I'm into mostly. Anyways, on to the pictures of what it currently looks like:

Future plans are to get some custom made tractor treaded 1.9 tires, getting two 4 inch shocks and two 3 or 3.5 inch shocks next week from a friend of mine, exo, roof rack and spare wheel to hide the hole in the roof left by the gun holder, and if I learn how to work with styrene, I might make an interior too.

Right now though, sadly, it doesn't have 4wd as the guy I bought it from off ebay last week somehow forgot one of the spur gears in the front differential, don't ask me how. But thanks to Keith over at scale 4x4, I'll be getting one soon.

I lifted the front by doing this:

I basically dropped the whole front end down some, same with the steering arms, as they will contact the huge front differential housing. In the last pic, the rear is stock suspension height, and the front is, of course, modified.

Now I just gotta modify the body mounts so the body will sit level with the chassis again. There's about a 1/4 inch difference. lol

The "sheild" around the main pipe is a lego tube that I slid over some 3/8 brake line.

Thanks all. I just masked it off and put a clear coat of spray paint on it to hopefully make it more reflective. This paint is too dull.

I used the same tube for the snorkle on my bronco. good scale stuff. Why don't you upgrade to a budget esc? you can get an ok one from 20 to 30 dollars. if you want scale you should do a light bar across the top and a snorkle coming from the hood like a real hummer.

Right now I'm out of cash. I'm saving up for a nice water proof one off tower hobbies.

I will be doing a full exo and all kinds of tube work, once I get my liscense. We don't have a welder here at home so I have to go to my good friend/ex-boss's machine shop.

That's also where I plan to do some ultra trick suspension pieces.

Well, I made a new exhaust pip. Waiting for the paint to dry, then I'll take pix of it installed.

Wanna sell that cam in the box? Looks like it has what? .0020 of lift? Should be a good scale rig.

lol..the cam is out of a 3.3 Chrysler V6, from a 94 Intrepid that we don't have anymore.

We have the whole friggin engine under that work bench. Along with an original 1962 413 Max Wedge block...

Also, got the new exhaust stack and a new snorkel done:

Hard to see, I know. I'll take pictures of it outside tomorrow for some beauty shots.

I like this truck, I like how you modded the front suspension to lift it more, nice work on that for sure. The body is nicely detailed, and the exhaust and air cleaner/snorkel are cool. What are you going to do about the top of the body? just cover it up with the roof rack?

The top of the snorkel is the one that comes with the body/kit, and I just took a lego peice and made it all fit.

Thanks all for the comments. Looks like I won't be able to do front wheelwells yet untill I get some more sheet metal. I'm all out. :(

EDIT: Also, read the first post on what my plans are. Full exo, roof rack and spare tire up top to cover the hole. I've also been debating turning it into a 2dr pickup, or 4 door pickup. We'll see I guess.
