Default My Wrecked Wraith build

Well I am starting a new build. I had a Wreckluse chassis about a year ago and did a build on it and I had a ton of fun with it. It was just a little top heavy and with the wheels I was using (rc4wd steelies) I was not able to use wideners. So I got rid of the chassis and built a different tuber. Well I really missed the Wreck so I said screw it and bought another one and it was pretty nicely built. Had a really well built interior and sheet metal skins. So I am re using the interior and I am going to add a few things to it. I am also going to use Wraith axles because I really like the way they look and perform and the width should be great. Here is the list of stuff for it. This is going to be an old school military inspired build so I am going to do the whole drivetrain in black, the chassis in black, and all the skins in OD Green. I will post up some pics as I get started and let you see everything as I go. This will probably take me an entire month or so to do if not longer I am planning on pulling out all the stops on this one.

Pics!!!...build threads need pics! A plan, the parts, and progress pics. You won't get much love without them.

Ok here are some pics so far.

The last picture is the ride height I am going to try and go with. I will have to run a full droop on the shocks to accomplish this but I think it will work out ok, we will see. I may drag the front out another half inch or so but I am not sure yet.

Full droop- you don't have too. Flip the link mount on the axle and cut the top mounting hole off. Mount the shocks on the outside of the axle link mount for stability. With this setup I'm running Proline big bore 110mm shocks and no droop.
Looking good so far.

Thanks for the advice on the shock mounting. I am going to try that for sure.

I am building the links now and I will post up some numbers for you in the morning. I have the front done, and I am working on the rear now.

I should have a good amount of time to work on it tomorrow so hopefully I can get it to roller and get the tins painted.

Ok I got the links made up for the upper and lowers in the front and the lowers in the rear and as requested I am posting up the lengths.

Front Lower 113mm
Front Upper 115mm

Rear Lower 112mm

I haven't made the rear uppers yet but I will as soon as I get the chance too. I had planned on working on it all day but I was feeling bad last night and when I got up this morning I was feeling even worse so I am relaxing and trying to get to feeling better.

thanks for the measurements, my links measure out to be 102mm lowers and 104mm uppers, when i get a chance to put wheels and tires on mine i will see how it looks and possibly lengthen it out a tad.

Got some more parts on the way look for some updates soming soon, I finally got some spare time. I have been dealing with some health issues with my wife, she had to have emergency hernia surgery, and my daughter just donated her kidney plus I lost my job. But all will be good! And hey it gives me more time for RC lmao! Got to keep the priorities straight.

Got me some 3/8 delrin for the new links and I am in the process of making the new ones. I am also in the process of making a rear driveshaft, I have to do a little modification to the skid plate and the drive shaft for the rear. I will post pics tonight when I get it done.

Hey TX....hope all is well with you and your family....family first

I thought I was the only one using wraith axles on a Wreckluse ....I tried using standard wraith links...way too long for me. Ended up making all my links. Wheel base sits a hair under 12.75"right now, using 2.2 wheels because the 1.9's looked stupid small. I turned the tranny and skid plate around so the shafts were straighter. I had issues with the chassis clearing the servo also....finally got the links in the front just right so nothing would bind up and dremeled a slight bit off the chassis to clear the servo. Currently putting together the interior...honing my styrene skills

Going to subscribe to your build....

Thanks man I appreciate it. Yeah I am having some trouble with the CMS on mine I am not sure exactly how I am going to do it but I am going to try and get that figured out tonight. I am torn over weather or not to use a panhard bar set up or not. I got the new rear links made up for it last night and I got the drive shafts in so I guess it is officially a roller. I will get some pics up tonight of the progress.

look forward to seeing what you come up with....you can do it...use some backyard engineering.. I did !!!
I'm using an AX-10 tranny with an MIP drive shaft made for the wraith...it's a touch too long in the front...might have to modify that a bit. Take an 1/8 - 3/16 off both male and female ends of the shafts

Yeah that sounds like it should work on you shafts. The rear on mine is REALLY long, I will make sure and take a picture of it tonight and post it. For now I am using scx-10 shafts for the front and rear but I had to mod the rear one and I am actually using 2 male ends and one female end.
