Default Robb's [drawn out] Scale EB Build

I was hoping to be much farther into this build by now, but work, life, work, pregnant wife, work, life, etc etc etc got in the way.

And I usually never start such a thread with only a couple of frame rails produced out of the whole rig, but between research, trial-n-error, more research, and a lot more trial-n-error, I probably have 20+ hours in just making these, so I felt the need to celebrate and post them. Of course, I could probably reproduce these now in a couple of hours, but I guess that is called learning.

The plans for the rig:

- scale looking EB with HPI body (top removed)
- aluminum ladder frame chassis
- Ford SFA radius arm (wristed) front suspension w/ trac bar
- rear leaf sprung suspension
- flip-flopped twin force tranny
- tlt axles (widened)
- complete and realistic interior with roll cage

This build will be a slow one, as I really only get a couple fo hours a week to work on this hobby................but I will do what I can. Here is a couple of pics of the chassis (good enough to mock off of), and hopefully tomorrow, I can get the rear susp and axles set up.

Sounds like it is going to be an interesting build.

You did a great job on the frame, it looks nearly identical to a real EB one!

More PPPP (piss poor prior planning) on my part. I decided to scrap the TLT axles, and go with narrowed TF axles. There just isn't enough width, between the knuckles, on the TLTs to mount all of the front suspenion components while also mounting them on the outside of the frame.

The TFs ended up being about 3/4" wider than I really wanted to go overall, but it will be worth it I think.

Part of me wishes all this crap I want/need was mass-produced so I could just bolt this whole thing together.........................but then the rational part kicks in and reminds me that this is a hobby, and the joy of the hunt is better than the thrill of the kill.

With just my ghetto-tools, I have over three hours today just in creating these semi-acceptable perches, u-bolts, and brackets.

Ah hell, I LOVE just messing with this crap!!!!!

(and remember, this is just mock up stuff, so it is all rough)
