| "SCREAMING BLUE" rock rod build
Aloha! WARING!!!! $HIT LOAD OF PICS!!!!!! LOL Here's my 2.2 scale screaming blue build.... FULL LIST OF PARTS! electronics: futaba 4PL hitec 7980 steering servo tekin rs ESC tekin pro4HD 4300KV custom power HD servo winch with heyOK 3 position controller CC BEC mini losi shifting servo. drive train: veterra twin hammer 2 speed transmission with full HR harden steel gears and 32p team associated spur 56T / 32p novak pinion 14T MIP wraith drive shafts with extended out put. axles: vp wraith axle housing vp truss vp link mounts vp chub vp knuckles vp lockers vp diff covers vp titanium steering link vp VVD inner shafts axial harden steel over/under gears proline slash aluminum wheel hexs suspension/wheels: proline power strokes (slash rears) proline spring tuning kit vp titanium 4 link 2.2 python rc4wd wheels MTHEAD delrin bead lock rings 2.2 proline super swamper tires w/stock foams chassis: 3/16? brake line 3/16" steel rod GH racing aluminum skid plate Started out by using my wraith skid and cutting 1/8" steel side plates for the side mount. Cutting 3/16" steel rod for side supports Brazed them on... And the frame work begins..... Bending rear end Cheeehuuuu I got a new power plant!!!! Haha jk Started working on the front hoops and its coming out Short... Brazed on more for the inter frame Shock hoop test fit. Gussets added Working on that front end and noticed it came out slightly off center... After 4X I got it right LOL As you can probably tell it off centered in this pic. Starting on the sides It's slowly coming together after some long ass nights LOL Hehe custom spacing tools ;) Tried to cut and squeeze the wraith interior in there... Side gussets in Roof braces Chopped the rear upper support Off and lowered, Looks much better now Workin on that rear end Rear shock hoops in the making. Choped up that front end! For the last time... alignment in progress LoL The front end braces begin Added in more gussets to the rear end It's ready to go! lol not! Big thanks to MTHEAD! For the scale delrin bead lock rings! Since I couldn't get the truck powder coated in time... I had a few different hobby rattle cans laying around... First few coats... I was just scrambling to get this truck together for are Hawaii TTC even and forgot to take more pics LOL Hawaii tubers! that is an absolute bang up job ya did on that chassis!!! You got mad skillz my man...think blue or red would show that awesome chassis off a little more though...either way, a phenominal job!!!

Great job on the chassis ! You should paint it a brighter color though so you can see all the hard work you put into it more easily.

Those of us in the southern buggy club know how much work goes into one of these! Great work! I'm glad you fixed that front end!!! x4 with paint, I think you should give screamin blue some screamin blue! |

Hell yeah man! Looks really good! This was one of my favorite buggies to build. The tail was a bit of a paint but i loved the flow. |

I actually was extremely motivated because i built it for bobby tanner. Start to finish in total prob 30 hours from nothing to paint

30 hours for a welded chassis or 100 hours for a brazed rig. Apples to oranges. Anyone who has built a brazed tube chassis knows how much work goes into this. The fishmouths, the measuring, the bracing, the fluxing, the cleanup...it's an entirely different game. In the end, you end up with a sharp looking chassis without a bunch of booger welded tubes. You should be proud of yourself for the effort and execution. | |

Another trick with solid rod is bolt cutters to make the cut and a bench grinder to get close. Bird mouth from there. Fifteen seconds on each end. Fingers start burning at ten. |
