| PARC Phoenix Arizona, November 20th Competition/Fun-Crawl
PARC (Phoenix Arizona Rock Crawlers) Boulder Battle #1 Remote Control Rock Crawling Competition Saturday, November 20th, 2004 Phoenix, AZ The event will be held where 24th street dead-ends at South Mountain Park, approximately 6 miles south of Sky Harbor Airport and Downtown Phoenix. Parking is available just west of the dead-end. A fun follow-the-leader/Fun-Crawl will start at 10am. Competition starts at 11am and will probably run until 1-2pm. After the competition we will continue to crawl for fun. For more information and maps visit http://www.geocities.com/boulderbattles or email boulderbattles@yahoo.com there will only be about 5 or 6 local people max attending, so i'm not promising anything huge. of course i will be there, and then most likely: fireman sr5dave lunatic minitrucker tod/hobbytown kevinlongisland and hopefully one or two of the local new guys that have shown interest. Here's a pic of the location in Phoenix: south mountain park: Competition Rules: Introduction: The courses will be set up so beginners and advanced drivers will enjoy the event. The courses will start out easy and increase in difficulty throughout the event. As much as possible, multiple gates will be available to navigate through a stage or section, allowing all level of driver to compete and have fun. Bonus points will be awarded for navigating through more difficult sections. The competitors score will be the sum of all points issued minus the sum of all bonus points earned throughout the entire event. Lowest total score wins. There are no limits on vehicle design. No winches allowed. Starting Position: Position in the starting lineup for each event is chosen randomly. All subsequent sections the first to start will be the one with the lowest score in the previous section and the second to start will be the next lowest and so on. Reposition: +3 Repositioning your vehicle incurs 3 penalty points. Drivers should attempt to get out of any situation their trucks have gotten into. Gate By-Pass: +6 You may choose to by-pass any gate at any time during your run. Drivers are encouraged to at least attempt a gate before by-passing. The maximum amount of points that can be accumulated on any gate is 6, so attempting a gate and failing to complete it will incur the same penalty as by-passing without attempting. But, if a gate is attempted and cleared, bonus points will be awarded and the total score for that gate will be +4 or less, making it advantageous to attempt a gate. Cleared Gates: -2 to -6 Bonus points will be awarded for clearing a gate. Drivers can have negative scores. Clearing a gate is defined as having all four tires past the imaginary line created by the gate markers. Reverse: 0 There are no penalties for reverse, I encourage drivers to analyze obstacles and set up along the best line. Gate Marker: +1 One penalty point for a gate marker offense. This includes any contact with the gate marker, or driving over the gate marker (straddling). A straddle is defined as having the vehicle’s tire touch the ground, rock, or tree outside of the gate. Also, you can not touch a gate marker from a gate you've already passed through. Rollover: +1 Any rollover incurs penalty points, whether the vehicle lands on it’s wheels or not. This is to encourage driving the obstacle carefully. The truck can be repositioned at the point of the rollover or anywhere behind that point. If a truck rolls over, only a rollover penalty will be assessed, even if the truck hits a gate marker or goes out of a boundary line. Stage times: Each stage will consist of approximately 5 gates. Each stage will have a maximum time limit, approximately 10 minutes. At which time the driver exceeds this limit, the driver will receive +1 penalty point per minute. DNF (Did Not Finish): At anytime during a section you may elect to withdraw from that section. At that time you will receive a score equal to the highest individual score received on that section plus 1 additional penalty point. Vehicle Breakage: There are no penalties for vehicle breakage. The vehicle can be fixed in place if it’s a minor problem. For major problems, the competitor will be allowed to remove the vehicle from the course for repairs. They will restart in the position and location where they broke. |

i hope some more of you can make it. the terrain is the most bad ass i have ever seen. an unlimited amount of crawling spots, and every skill level. but most important, there are an unlimited amount of super difficult obstacles. the course will be setup with tons of bonus gates that will be extremely difficult!
