Default Any Interest In a National Level Scale Comp?

I am wanting to see who would be interested in seeing a national level scale comp come to AZ, probably Tucson and who would be interested in competing? Date would probably be sometime in September.

Please post up feedback and or interest here.

Here are the scale rules if you like to see if your rig fits into the class guidelines or what it will take to get it there.
2012 SORCCA Scale Rules

Thanks in advance for your feedback and responses.

Brian

I'd be happy to help with what I could. Where were you thinking of having it?

The rules aren't anything more then to help even out the playing field.

I would really like to see the AZ boys and girls embrace the SORCCA rules so we can start having some real scale comps here in the valley and down south, something for you all to think about and maybe discuss at the next GTG.

Here are some of my thoughts.
I haven't been to any National scale events but I have been involved in organizing events for one of my other hobbies. Location is huge, we have lots of great terrain but a lot of it isn't great for people who would be traveling. You'd want something that isn't too far away from lodging. Land use would also have to be considered, that large of an event is bound to draw some attention and some people get picky of who uses what lands.

Seems like a good idea to have some smaller events first to get problems ironed out before you do a national sized event.

I have to admit there are some scale rules that I'm not real fond of, but it serves a purpose. Personally I like things a little more informal like the G6 events and I'm not sure that my rig really fits into a class but Class 2 would probably work.

Yeah Kevin, that is the very reason I did not mention Phoenix, too much red tape.

Your statement Kevin...
"Seems like a good idea to have some smaller events first to get problems ironed out before you do a national sized event."

I would like to do this but with my work schedule it is difficult to arrange it without some help from you guys if it is something you would be interested in. Also we would need to run by the rules, maybe modified slightly to allow more to compete but we would still need to run SORCCA rules.

As far as the National comp goes I can't say much but I can say I was approached about it and asked to inquire with you all.

We (AZ) have held two national level comps in Tucson and one in Casa Grande and all ran pretty smooth, had accommodations close by and weren't too far from the airport. As much as I'd like to see a comp like this at Nine Tables I just don't think it is possible.

So I'll get back on track here....

I am wanting to see who would be interested in seeing a national level scale comp come to Arizona and who would be interested in competing?

Depending on when and where if falls, I'm pretty sure I could buy the wife something nice and convince her i'm doing this to help promote the hobby. Noob question thou, what class would be run, Super and 1.9??? And would my newly aquired mrc fall under the 1.9?

NARCCA is doing their best to revive the Summer Shootout as a USRCCA event in June.
