Default R2 Tranny Mounting

On the AX10...how is everyone mounting there R2 Tranny on the stock skid? Do the mounting holes line up? Are you drilling out new holes? Or are you custom making new skids (out of what and how)?

I saw TCS used to carry a skid for the AX10 with R2 but it has been out of stock for a while. Seems to be the only option to buy.

im not 100% sure but i really dont think they are a direct bolt up. i should be getting mine in the mail tomorrow. ckrc said that they have a skid in the works that should be out in a few weeks or so. i dont know what kind of time frame you have. im gonna make my own skidplate out of some ikea cuttingboards that were two for a buck. if i remember, i will let you know how i turns out. or maybe i can post the specs.

It fits like shit on the stock skid, the screw bosses limit placement, and the motor could have a chance to arc out on the frame where it "has to go". Different hole patterns between the two, you have to locate and drill new holes.

At first, I modified the stock one, found out I didn't like it/didn't work, so I made one using the same dims (Stage 2 skid). Only difference is, it's flat on top so you can mount the R2D "anywhere".

I am also interested in how to mount the R2D trans. I just got it but havent had time to check it out. I plan to get the skid from TCS when it is available but am also wanting to run double triangulated links and am curious to see if there is enough room to do that with their skid since the mounting holes are close to the edge.

Also, what size collar will fit on the shifter rod of the R2 tranny?

We just finished these the day before yesterday. We added them to the site but at the last minute decided we wanted to add the hardware to move the links inboard at the axle. Kevin and I thought this would be a better value for the money.

Everything fits in there nice and tight, and you can use the servo mount that is also available on the site for the total package.

We mounted it to the side plate directly and then used some of our spacers to mount to the other side plate.

I will see if I can post some photos when I am back in the office next week.

Thanks,
Axial
