Default My blackjack build, "Finest Insanity"

Well I been working on her for quit a while now. Still have to do some wire managment and get the body posts mounted. But this will give ya an idea........

DX3r radio
Black Jack Chassis from RCP
Axial axles with shimmed ring and pinions for no slop
R2D Trans
MM and CC BEC
HH Crawlmaster sport
Losi Shocks, drooped with ACE hardware springs, 70wt in back 60wt front
Homebrew electronics trays
Homebrew front link
RCP rear straight axle adapters and straight axles, shimmed for no slop
RC4WD C's
CKRC Knuckles
Axial high clearance links, cut and homebrew anodized, will redo when my new power supply gets here
70mm upper links
Jato drivelines
TCS 4 link and servo front plate delrin, rear 4 link plate aluminum
TCS Axle batt plates, delrin
TCS Dig servo mount
TCS 8 cell 1500mh saddle packs w/deans
HiTech 5955TG for steer and 5645MG for dig
Axial beadlocks with Losi Claws, still waiting on my MSD beadlocks
Kreepy Krawler foams, red front, pink rear
Custom R2D linkage

So you think she will work? All I have been able to do is couch crawl since I got 2 feet of freakin snow outside. But so far she handles pretty dang nice but still need to tweek the suspension a bit..........
Still need to make a bash/skid for the servo and trans that sticks out as well.

Those are the rear shocks. I played around with the rod ends on the shaft to get different ride height. Those are Traxxas rod ends, they were a couple mm longer than the stock Losi ends.

Not my first RC, that belongs to the AYK 566b Super trail, wow Im old. But this is my first crawler. So I take it I did ok?

Not sure about the "Rockstar" just yet. Its pretty dang small, we'll see how it works. The paint sux bad, I forgot how much I hate panting these things. Next time Im gonna get one of the paint guru's to do the paint work for me. Rattle cans just aint the way. All the aluminum will be red when I get the power supply Im waiting for as well. Thats whats fun about these things, they are never really done.

I have 2 5/8" of ground clearance running full droop now. I have seen a lot of guys running the 3racing mini LST shocks on this chassis, but after spending the coin on these losi shocks I had to use them. I can drop the height a lil bit by using different rod ends on the shocks. But where Im gonna be crawling there are a lot of stair steps with large breakovers. Im sure once I get her out on the rock to, test she will change a bit. But doing some testing indoors, she works pretty dang well. I have some TT that I need to deal with, but its not that bad for a fresh build. I give the Blackjack a
Its a nice chassis and keeps the CoG very low. Easy to make trays for your electronics. But putting a Cobalt puller and a R2D in here is not gonna happen. The cross brace on the chassis plate works perfect for mounting a R2D as well.
Well done Rizzo!

Thank you.

Thanks for the feedback as well. Maybe a version 3 can include a more open side plate with an upper brace.

Yea its a very tight fit for this setup. I had to clearance the chassis for the motor and the servo for the dig. Not very much, maybe a a couple mm total. I plan on making a upper brace to span across the top of the trans and motor to reinforce the chassis. Not sure if its needed or not as my electronics trays are pretty stout and add to the strength of the chassis quite a bit. And I went against the norm and mounted my lower links inboard on the chassis. Just took a lil clearancing of the skid to make it all work the way I wanted. But if I want to double triangulate my lower links it will be a snap. Since the skid is not part of the lower link mounting I can cut some old links for spacers and bring the lower link mounts in as far as I like. After putting this chassis together I am really impressed with its simplicity and being able to mod it many ways, its strength and its ultra low center of gravity.

Well I finally got my MSD's in the mail yesterday and I just gotta post a pic of her. She is almost done, still got to do some suspension tweaking for the TT and make my Titanium links but she is gettin there. My first comp is on the 17th so gotta practice and tweak her up.

Ok, a couple more mods to the Axial/Blackjack. When I installed my R2d, servo and Crawlmaster I had to cut both lower gussets out of that side of the chassis. I noticed once I did that I could get some deflection vertically. If she took a big spill it would have bent the chassis. So I racked my brain a bit and came up with this. Also on this chassis the trans and the servo stick out a ways and could get hung up or break the servo case. So I made a small skid out of some scrap aluminum I had layin around.......
