Default From WK to AX10

Started off with a wheely king that got a plethora of upgrades before it was broken down and sold to build a brushless 18b. Now i am ready to build another one and decided the AX10 was the way to go. Placed my order with ckrc last night and got the following

AX 10 kit
Novak rooster crawler esc
novak 55T
hitecHs5955tg

this should be enough to get started with. Any thoughts on the aluminum tranny gears? Any other upgrades i need to know about?

seems the stock lockers aren't the best. where is everyone getting these ti lockers from?

I am going with the 2.2 rock stompers on rc4wd beadlocks.

body painted by ftr.

still need the spektrum rx.

anybody have an opinion on the Aluminum TracGear Spool from rc4wd?

Aluminum knuckles should have been the first on your list and clockable c's too. And I would hold off on the SS straight axles given the most recent post by Rocksmith...should bring out everyone that's had them bend on them. My stock shafts have been holding up great so far.

I've never broken a knuckle or C on any of my stuff but i don't mind getting them. i already ordered hardened ring and pinions for the front and rear and i got the SS shaft/lockout combo from CKRC.

i'll leave the front stock and see which holds up better.

Well here's my list of best upgrades in order of importance. A good start is to search and see what people are breaking. The stock shafts, ring and pinions, tranny gears have all been stout and imo should be the last things to upgrade.

The weak links are knuckles, lockers, c's, tranny outputs, plastic driveshafts, three link y. Based on that my first upgrades would be:

RCP high clearance aluminum knuckles
RCP clockable c's
RCP straight axle lockouts
Freakstuffracing.com stainless lockers front and rear
Traxxas ruslter shafts have been great for me and don't pop
Any of the vendors fourlink plates front and rear
VF fab billet tranny outputs

And then I'd replace all my rod ends on my lower links with traxxas ones. The plastic axial uses on their rod ends seems the same as their driveshafts..it's pretty soft and I've torn all of the stockers out on my lower links.

Still in testing phase of the Ti lockers. Will be available soon though.

The RCP SS axles are fine. I am just torture testing my drivetrain right now with the Ti lockers. Anyone else would have backed out the way I had it bound up. But I kept on it to see what would give out first. With normal use the straight axles are much better than stock and eliminates the c's, knuckles and stub shafts. Well worth it in my opinion.
