Looks good. Why did you decide to use the slipper? I know you are familar with using slippers, but do you think the ax10 tranny really needs it?

Thanks. 8)

I've been running an AX10 tranny for a few months now, and it's held up fine to my abuse. But, the slipper clutch can help prevent breakage in binds, especially if you run brushless. And it can be adjusted to slip when you want it too.

Awesome start to the build up there Fred.. (Brad) ;-)

Your build threads are always nice to use as a reference. Easy to follow, pictures are always clear and in focus.

Got a lid picked out yet?

FrankyRizzo 03-14-2008 03:37 PM

I know what is missing..... VF Dig!

Check out the big build from Brad!

I am having tool envy. Need to get a set.

It'll be sporting a freshly painted Losi Grappler. "thumbsup"

These Axial tools are sweet, way better then standard allen wrenches and nut drivers. 8)

The VF dig is in the plans too. ;-)

Looks good Brad ;-) It won't be long until I make the swap too.

Thanks Scott. I have a feeling I'll be working on my rig a lot less once I make the switch from TLT axles. 8)

I got the slipper installed on the tranny. Look for an article on the front page of RCC for all the details. ;-)

Yeah, they are the stock outputs. One was a little darker in color out of the package.

bender why would you ever build a comp rig without the RCP Max Clearance knuckles? they are a MUST HAVE for any comp rig:

Why would you ever respond to a thread, without reading the whole thing? ;-)

Lookin' good man! Those wheels are the best fo sho!

I picked up a set of axles too."thumbsup"

DirkDigler 03-14-2008 07:40 PM

Man! If this thing had some Proline Hammer tires on it, it would be unstoppable!!!!!!;-);-)

dezfan 03-14-2008 10:58 PM

Do you think a slightly longer shock is needed when running the AX-10 axles w/ their lower mounting points compared to the TLTs? Seems like another 10mm in length is necessary to maintain the same center chassis height as a TLT based rig?

The chassis ride height will be lower compared to running TLT gear, because of the shock mounting points on the axles. But, the few SW3 AX10 rigs I run with here in Colorado seem to be able to make all the same obstacles I can. I'm running just a shade under 3" of belly clearance on my current 2.2 comp rig.

I have the longest Losi truck shocks available on my TLT. They are probably about 10mm longer then standard 4" shocks. I'll swap them over to this build if I decide I need more clearance. "thumbsup"

Sparky J 03-15-2008 09:09 AM

I thought I was going to have to go with a longer shock on my SW3, but so far I like it much better with a 2.75" belly clearance.
Cant wait to see this thing done Brad, so get wrenchin;-)
