Default Man Oh Man, An Edge! ;-)

We'll I wasn't going to post pics at first then I thought about how much I enjoyed seeing everyone's different rigs and all the help and tips I have gotten here.

So here goes, this is my TCS edge. I finished it up a few nights ago and took a few poser shots for you. Here's the details, it started as an AX10 rtr which I essentially stripped and used as a base...

TCS Edge Kit
TCS Delrin Tranny Mount
New Era 4-Link Mount
Holmes Hobby Cobalt 10T
Tekin FX-R
Xtreme RC Hobbies Delrin Links & Steering
Spektrum DX3r/SR3100 rx
Hitec 5955TG
Thunder Power 1320Mah 2-cell

& of course lots of other little things...

Hope you enjoy!

Thanks again to all the forum members who helped me out!

-Mike

Those are stock axial shocks with internal TCS springs you get with the Edge hardware kit. I upgraded to the aluminum bodies. Made a big difference in them leaking....they don't anymore.

I believe I used 70 wt oil.

I used the stock space inside and a 1/2 inch of fuel tubing on the outside shaft to get the ride height I wanted.

I'm just a smidgen over 2.5" belly clearance.

Great looking ride bro!! Looks good and I really dig the skulls.

How did you do your fron end upper links? I see you are using the Axial battery plate. Are you using the stock Tri-Link?

How do you like the New Era 4 link kit? Any difference in torque twist?

Thanks for all the compliments. I actually have been running it, but we have an indoor course at my shop. It's bed-liner covered foam, so it doesn't really beat it up. I'll get outside with it as soon as I can though!

jeep1969 - The FX-R works great. I posted some comments in Kaetwo's review on it. After running it, I really like the ESC. The size cannot be beat. The programing of it through the button is also probably the easiest I have ever come across. I got it for the Hotwire link, but I don't think it's even worth it or necessary.

Harvo - Awww...man! Those are skulls! Not flowers.
Yeah I'm not sure how I feel about the panels. I actually painted them black and then just put the Parma decal sheet over it. I figure it if get's hacked up I'll just pull it off. The flash of the camera also makes it contrast more than it does in person. Oh well. Can't beat black if it sucks. :-)

TK421 & Mortimer Snerd - I used the New Era 4 link mount. I really like these. Super clean install and if your going to use the optional servo plate in the front, you don't have to double up mounting plates, like you would with the TCS or RCP type mount.

It's hard to say if this made a big impact or not. I did a few things to combat torque twist and I honestly have very little if any. I went to 4 links, I moved the links inside at the tranny using the TCS plate and then I went to the outside at the axle instead of following their directions and using the spacer and moving them in.

If you noticed or caught it. I also flipped/mirrored the tranny based off EeePee's advice and help. This puts my motor forward and to the right.

I think everything has helped.

I might go to a triangulated skid but so far, it's working really well.

Thanks again for all the nice comments. And again thanks to everyone who has posted tips and tricks here. It's helped a ton.

What was wheelbase with the ExtremeRc links, mine was just a little long, but it was a fairly easy fix. LOOKS GOOD

yeah I'm about an 1/8th too long right now.

I'm thinking if I go to the triangulated center skid, this will get rid of it.

My steering link from them was too long too. Really nice links, just a shame they aren't right. I guess too long is better than too short!

Nothing against Trosts tubers. I actually started this build with his frame. I ran into a couple issues, first I had ordered them all with the electronics shelf (I thought that was a great feature) but I soon realized the cobalt motor would not fit. Not a big deal, I actually cut it out and proceeded...

I then ran into a problem with the front shock mounts, they were off considerably. The axles wouldn't sit level. Turned out all of the inventory we had was off too, so I couldn't just swap to a different frame.

I contacted Trost and he took care of everything. He has a new jig made to correct this and sent replacements as soon as he was able. The new frames are perfect and look great. We actually have them and have sold a few too!

I was just knee deep into the build at that point and wanted to get going on it. So I took home the only other thing we had at the time and that was an Edge.

I still want to do one of Trosts frames, his new one looks even better!

Was this a matter of just turning the tranny/skid CCW or is there some modification you must do to accomplish this..?

Nice edge, all you do is turn the tranny around on the skidplate and solder your wires in the opposite direction > I did this and have no toque twist. Does the fuel tubbing on the outside of the shock affect its performance at all. My edge is sitting kinda low and i am looking for a way to raise it. been searching and this is the best ive gotten so far....back to searching
