Default Blackjack, cobalt puller 1/2 build

Heres my build. Its a half build cause I got to involed half way through and forgot to take pics. Oh and I didn't get a chance to take pics of it finished.

The links were just to mock up for wheelbase and to see how it would look. I still have to permanetly mount the esc and some small stuff here and there. Still have some bugs to work out of the steering. I dont have as much as I want so have to research some stuff on the caster and stuff like that.

Seems like that motor hanging completely out could catch on alot of things.

^I was kinda thinking the same thing. Good idea on the narrow chassis, but what's the point if the motor and trans stick out so far?

It does alitte but i guess im kinda used to it from when it was on my other chassis. It wasn't that narrow I had to cut it down to fit the motor. I figured if it didnt work its easier to make a new skid than replace half the chassis if I had cut it for the puller. With the new chassis it doesn't crawl that much differant than my old setup. Ill post new pics of how it sits now tomorrow.

Seems like it would weight it a lot to that one side as well. If it works for you though, then great. I wonder if you're not going to run into issues with your upper links. If you run them to the outside, it looks like they'd touch the shocks. To the inside, you'd get no triangulation.

the upper links run on the outside on the rear and inside on the front (motor in the way). There is alittle play on the front but very minimal and the rear is rock solid. I really have to take some pics of it how it is now. Still have alot of bugs to work out but its great that every comments and it really helps me fix the issues it does have.

Thanks

I need to get longer link ends for the rear shocks, thats why it sags alittle. the scraping on the bottom of the motor is from when it was in the old chassis (haven't driven it enough to scratch it up that much). Other than that let me know what you would change and just what you think of it.

Thats a interesting approach to the extra size of a cobalt motor. Hows the torque twist?

maybe you could make a skid just for the motor? Just a little one

Interesting to see the variations in the BlackJack. Pretty cool.

How is the 32 pitch spur and pinion working for you?

The 32 pitch is great I can get more gearing and dont have to worry as much about the driveshaft. I did strip 1 but its been good ever since. Oh btw frankyrizzo this is 1 of the chassis jerome from team a'ama (hawaii) brought back. So far its been pretty good (only have about 2 hours on it). I really like it cause its much more compact than my home made 1 and it drives really similarly.

Torque twist is really minimal. I think it has to do with the shocks being so short and the way the links are.

I was thinking about making a skid for the puller but its actually fine. Although I do have to grind off some of the motor plate that hangs below the motor (I had the stock 1 on before and this 1 hangs alittle lower).

After looking at it last night when I was taking pics I feel I really have to get longer links on the rear shocks. Adjust the shock oil. Find better places for my elec. Oh and try to get more steering. If there are any other tips or you notice something "weire" let me know.

Thanks for all the great feedback!!!!

How can you get more gearing by going to 32 pitch?
What ratios are you running?

Looks like the body should protect the motor just fine, nice job on coming up with a solution to the problem.

I would think you would want to hang the motor off the other side to help with the TT a bit. Other than that it looks great

you are going to 0 in on a rock and it is going to eat that gear

my mistake on the gearing, your right on that. btw its 9/62. The TT is real minimal you can't really tell its there, or it just doesn't really bother me. Oh and I prefer the motor to be offset more twards the front of the truck anyway. I'm not so much worried by the gear, it hits the motor first and its tucked away pretty good.
