Default does anyone use the rock lizard tires?

I am still running the stock rock lizards on my ax10 and with all my mods it actually grips and climbs pretty good (use simple green on tires to soften) just curious cause it looks like every comp rig i see has rock clawas or prolines?

I used them on my K2-3S scale truck but I took them off and now they are on my WK basher. They aren't horrible, but there are better options.

My wife actually let me get a different set because the stock axials stink like moth balls or something just terrible. The smell does not go away no matter what you do, they have been outside for over 3 months and still stink. I got rock claws which I love. I did end up using the axial foams which are great. The claws work better once they are broken in .

I'm still running the stocks (the smell did go away, though I wish I'd used it as a excuse to get new ones). I've tried WD40 and Simple Green (which smells better) and both work well for what I do. For comps, I'd take it up a notch to the Losi set and better foams.

Not a fan of the axial tires. For dry conditions, rock claws seem to be the best here...for wet, Mashers or Moabs seem to work the best. I ran the Axials for a month or so before switching, you can make them work alright but there are better options .. like already said..

If your wife complains just show her how much it costs to go race touring cars. Crawling is cheap in comparison.

You know the Simple Green helps...but it also helps the other more competitive tires, so really trying with the stockers is a waste of time, just tos a few $...beadlocks help save the $.

Default Siping the Rock Lizards

I spent a couple hours siping the stock rock lizards on my little guys truck. It pulls lines that I do with my Rock claws now. I siped the large lugs down the center. It takes a lot of time but works. Used a dremel with a cut-off wheel. Just have to be careful not to go to deep.

They are a good tire for a backyard basher or scale truck. They are cheap enough so you can have several and have a fifth for a spare on a scale build, but I would not recommend them on a serious comp rig.

just curious ,when you mean siping ,do you mean cutting off the tread?

This is f-in hilarious....

Earlier this morning, I was doing my sun salutations to open up the third eye (pinching a loaf), and I was thinking about tires, and wondered about siping, and how good it would work.
I bet the smaller lugs that are created would have a tendancy to tear off.

That's rad though!

an interesting guide about tire siping:

http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri...reSiping.shtml

gotta try it!

yesterday I was thinking about doing little... "craters" inside the lizards tread blocks to make them look like the rock crawls... but the siping could actually be a faster solution

I tried cutting half the center treads out and they got better. Now that I've got Badlands......I use my Lizards as chew toys for the dogs.
