Thanks!
Tower sells them: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXPME9&P=Z

Mine were leftover from my High Lift after I 4-linked it.

The aluminum on the radio tray was some scrap I had laying around, and the body posts I cut out of old TLT chassis plates.

I bought a Futaba micro receiver a long time ago and it came inside the clear box.

A long overdue update. Added some front headlights made by Ram Lights.

Fabbed some mounts out of some scrap lexan and mounted to body with double sided tape.

Cut round holes out and used the spare headlight stickers that came with the body to go over the outside.

Very bright.

Finally got around to adding some nerf bars.
Had some old High Lift leaf springs lying around so I straightened them, cut them almost in half, and put a bend with a hole at the end. Since nerf bars can take a lot of abuse, the flexible leaf spring metal will allow the bars to flex, bounce back and not get bent.

Mounted to chassis. The tubes are aluminum rod drilled and threaded at the ends. Long screws go through short pieces of aluminum tube, then through the mounts and finally into the threads in the aluminum rod.

While I was at it I mounted the battery farther forward.

All mounted up along with a driver.

If you were at the last Carter's Lake comp you know my thoughts on Flatirons as a comp tire. So ASAP they were mounted to the Jeep. They look great and are an excellent scale tire.

Sweet. I'm diggin' the front bumper. Do you have pics of how you chassis mounted the steering servo?

Front and rear bumpers are made from steel as are the brackets. The steering servo is still mounted right to the front axle. You can see my winch servo sitting up under the front in the side shot.

Thanks. It is an easy build. The hardest part is finding the right length shocks and mounting the body.

But wait there's more!!!

I've been wanting it scale legal so I tried chassis mounting the steering servo.
First carved up these Delrin blocks that mount to the chassis.

Mounted.

All hooked up.

There is bump steer, but I'll work on that later.....

Next I made a rag top.

Brazed a cage out of some old airplane pushrod. I think I put in enough cross-bracing to survive most rollovers.:-?

Mounted to body.

Covered it in black vinyl.

I may add some windows later but I'm not sure yet.

Had to get it dirty after the new additions.

I finally feel like it is nearing completion. Some nicer wheels are one of the last things on the list though.

Comments welcome.

Loving the scale RC in the back. Now you've gotta make that one a runner!

well in my opinion, you should at least put a 2.2 size tire for the spare if not the exact tire/wheel combo that you have on the truck. wouldnt that make it more scale?

Yes it would. I just don't want the extra weight and size of a 2.2 to hinder performance.

No problems with overheating. I even tried a 19 turn mod motor once with no problems.
