Default Gear ratios???

I'm doing a bit of research before starting on something w/ my AX-10. I'll give a bit more info on the project once I see if it's possible or not.

Meenwhile, does anybody happen to know the gear ratios of the stock transmission? How about the axles?

Thanks!

here is a little info: If you go with the kit you have a 27t motor and a 14 tooth pinion, not sure on the axles. If you go with the RTR you have a 27t motor and a 20 AND 14 tooth pinion and again not sure on the axles...

maybe that will lead you in some direction....i know there is a chart on here somewhere....try the search function

I know all of the typical information. I'm way beyond that. I really need to know 2 numbers, the gear reduction ratio of the transmission and that of the axles. I'm trying looking into different gear reduction options, and I need to know what these are.

funny you ask this question.. I was installing the Axial HD lockers yesterday and I decided to count the teeth on the ring and pinion. I'm pretty sure it was 16 on the pinion and 38 on the ring gear.

I was thinking/wondering if anyone could make a lower gear ratio in a R&P set, something in the 3:1 range.

I'm pretty sure the ratio in an Axial tranny is 2.6:1.

If it was 16/38 in the axle, thats 2.4:1 (2.375 to be exact) Are you stuck on using Axial axles? I know a set you can run either 3.3:1 or 4.3:1....your choice.

Only reason that I'm stuck on the Axials is that I already have the truck built around them. I'm always open to other options, though. What would you suggest?

Oh, and thanks for the info everybody!

Per Axial manual..... 13/38, so 2.92:1 ratio for the axials

If you go to Axial's website you can download the PDF and all the information is in there. Page 29 and 37 are the ones that can point you towards that info.

Cheers,
Bill
