| Das Ninja AX10; mods = bta, narrowed, custom links, w/ action pics.
My original AX10 kit didn't stay very stock for long. Over the last few months I have been changing things here and there to make it work how I want and to make it work better where I go crawling. Rundown of changes... ∙ Triangulated links made from 8/32 all-thread sleeved in aluminum using Traxxas Jato rod ends and wrapped in Slick Sleeves. ∙ Narrow Delrin skid plate. Entire chassis is narrower than stock. ∙ Lowered front battery mount, custom delrin front battery mount w/ upper link mount. ∙ Behind the axle steering using mostly stock geometry. ∙ Lowered the body for that "not so jacked up" look. ∙ Integy MSR10 shocks thrown out, Losi's put on instead. ∙ Extended / more durable drive shafts made out of Traxxas half shafts. ∙ Custom radio tray. Setup... Electronics: ∙ 2x JR8711 Servos ∙ Castle BEC ∙ Castle Mamba Max ∙ Spektrum Micro Rx ∙ 3S 1340mah LIPO ∙ 35x1 Handwound Motor Suspension: ∙ 4 Link, triangulated lower. ∙ Wheelbase: 12" ∙ Ride height: 2.75" ∙ Total weight: 6 pounds, bias 2.25 rear / 3.75 front. ∙ Shocks: harder in the rear than up front. Wheel/tire: ∙ Kreepy Krawler Pink Inserts all the way around. ∙ Losi "Rock Krawz" ∙ Proline 8 shooters. ∙ Can't remember how much weight I added. But I did make sure they were even left to right and have no rotational unbalance. Now some pics in the next post....yeah, they are big. |

Very nice job on the (Shrek) mod, I did it also and it works very well. Sweet build, nicely done. P.S. Integy does suck!!

Where did you get the tranny mount? I was just thinking earlier that I wanted to find one of those to narry my chassis. I think that will help out a lot and save me from having to buy a whole new chassis. Also I want to get my lower links mounted more in the middle at the chassis end like you did.

Yup...got mine from yotachump, fast shipping and a good product. Even comes with all of the hardware you need. Narrowing the chassis was one of the bigger improvements I've made, at least where I crawl there are a lot of narrow sections to squeeze through. Plus it's less to get hung up on, I notice I high center far less and can slide over stuff much easier. You will need to brace up the chassis though. Once you cut out the side of it the AX10 chassis is basically not much stronger than cardboard. A couple of cross braces fixed it up right. |

It is very simple to do. You can make your own posts pretty easily using the stock axial parts.

anybody can free crawl...that's where the fun is. 2-6 people running a trail and getting a few hours or runtime in is more appealing to me than standing around for hours with your buddies only to run solo for a few minutes. as you know...racing touring cars will burn your ass out. maybe in a year I'll change my tune.. | |
