Default Stock Axial 27T and stock Axial motor plate

Am I missing something or is the stock 27T Axial motor supposed to fit into the oval hole on the stock Axial motor plate? I just got a stock motor and it doesn't bolt up to the motor plate. Is there an adapter that I'm missing?

Just run a sanding drum on a dremel through the hole a few times or use a little file, its not uncommon for motors not to fit into motor plates like that, similar on the AE B4 buggy.
