Default Modified MIPs for dig?

Lets see some pics of the modified MIP driveshafts for digs. I was looking at it the other day and thought you could just grind down the shoulder on the male end to go into the other piece further but the males end bottoms out. So the only way I see to make the driveshaft shorter is gonna be to cut about 1/4" off of each piece and that may be enough. But for what I am working on right now the rig has a 12.5" wheelbase. The rig that the driveshaft will ultimately end up in will have a 12" wheelbase so they will have to be even shorter.

Anyone know what type of metal these are made of? I am thinking about just taking the male end and cut it, shorten it, and re weld.

I did it. I cut cut the shaft out and rewelded the cup to the spline shaft. I MIGed welded mine and have beat the crap out of it with no problems... I

With a skid that relocates the tranny forward like most do, I only had to cut 1/4" off both male and female mips for the rear to work. There is still about 1/2" spline engagement, plenty for a crawler. The front is still good because the relocated tranny skids wouldn’t be compatible otherwise.

Yes, they work well in my set up for both the front and rear.
