add weight to the wheels
star cut the foams
inboard the links
if you look in the tech section there is a great piece on improving the standard ax10. good luck with it

Turn your shocks upside down for a lower CG. Mount your ESC and Rx on the upper links, also helps with lower CG and help keeps them out of harms way in a roll over.

Search for Mirror Tranny. It is free and will help with the torque twist a little. I would also 4 link the front and back. And like someone else said, the battery over the front axle will help alot. Buy a split pack, it is a great investment.

If the ARTR comes with memory foams, do you still have to star cut them?

never cut memory foams

unless of course you're in the mood for buying yourself a replacement set

If you're not planning to compete (even if you are), stick with the stock Hammer tires w/ memory foam. I'm running mine with 5oz of lead in the front and none in the rear. They're good tires. And like others have said, do not star cut memory foam.

Add wheel weights, install softer springs (except for the left rear, or preload the left rear with spacers), limit the shock travel by installing 1/4"-1/2" spacers inside the shocks (you'll need to pull the shaft out of the shocks to do this), reconfigure your battery to fit on the front axle or get a NiMH saddle pack.

BTW, if you want to flip the shocks upside down, you will need to buy new 3x30 hex screws to allow you to move the links inboard of the inner mounting tabs on the axle to get enough clearance to not bind the shock caps against the links.

have a look in the tech section at the CKRCCrawlers link on how to prep an AX10 for comps.Between the text and the photos its pretty easy to do.
I have the rtr it came with standard foams which need cutting so if those with experiance say dont cut memory foams than who am I to disagree

I am in pretty much the same boat as you, bought the ARTR, electronics, and am just using it around here, there's no comps here so i don't need a comp rig, the #1 upgrade that you make, would be to buy a split pack and put it on the front axle, i ran mine stock with the battery up top, and i had all my electronics on the upper links, it was fun...... but pretty roll over prone, then i bought two 8 cell split battery packs, and wow, did it make a huge difference. I was driving around today, playing with some tires i got off a 2wd truck of mine, put in the old pack, then got bored of that and put on the split pack (was trying to save the split back for the day but couldn't resist) and the increase in speed was noticable and as stated above as was the performance, trust me, split packs in my opinion is a GREAT choice to go with. I also upgraded to front and rear 4-link which aided in reducing the torque twist.

put a piece of fuel tubbing in the shocks, befor the piston on the shaft to make them shorter so that it sits lower, softer springs with thicker fluid
