Yes it will run up to 10 cells, nimh or nicd
on the RTR the esc doesn't have a brake there isn't actual disk brakes or anything like that, most aftermarket esc have brakes
The rest someone else can help you with

the esc will run 10 cells. They do have a break . Its a forward brake reverse esc. It does not however have a Drag Break. The brake on the esc is only good for stoping not holding. I would suggest 2/3's a cells for a crawler. You need to make sure your charger will charge 10 cells before you go dumping the coin on the batteries. Most NiCd/NiMh chargers will only charge up to 8 cell packs. 8 cells is plenty for a crawler any way. If you want more power than that you would be better going with 3c lipo's.

think i will order a 8 cell saddle pack with elite 1500 pack

16 or 18awg wire?
what type of connector?

and this charger http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php...3&cat=7&page=1, unless someone knows of a cheaper charger that works great, saving money is a plus for me.

i think that charger would work great when i upgrade the stock esc to a mamba max, this way i can play with drag and all that.

Actually If it were me I would go with this charger. http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php...7&bestseller=YThe one you posted is D/C only so you would have to have a power supply to charge batteries in the house. As for the battery leads mine all have 16 gauge. And I run all deans ultra pplugs. You will need to convert the esc plug to deans too but its well worth it. The stock tamiya style plugs suck.

I have been thinking about that charger myself. It has about everything you could ever want on a charger. Doesn't it?
