Scale or comp style is what it comes down to.

Well, since they both have interchangeable parts, if your not happy with the way one performs you cn turn it into the other pretty easily.
The scx is a more scale looking crawler and the ax10 is a more comp style crawler. Depends on what you prefer, IMO.

So they both can crawl over the same obstacles?

Not really on one hand you have the more scale truck which is great but you give up a little flex for that scale look. And on the other side you have the comp style. You have more flex so you can get through crazier spots, but then you are giving up the scale looks. IMO there two different beasts.

I had the same question - I'm going with the AX10 because I am hoping for better performance vs. more realistic look.

Not to be contrary to "axial rose", but i'm choosing scale looks with lower performance although I will be running with comp style rigs. As long as your in it for the fun factor it shouldn't really matter. I know some people take their fun more serious than I do though!!!

i would say go with scale crawler, seems though most people that crawl in competitions change the chassis anyways...so if you would choose the scale crawler, you could run that setup, and if you feel that you need more climbing ability, you could purchase the hot chassis of the week and go from there, plus the scx10 even though it has 1.9 tires, comes with proline flat-irons that from what i have read are better tires than the axial lizards that come with the stock ax-10 kit...which would probably changed anyway.....just my .02 cents..
