If you look at RCP's axles:
http://rcpcrawlers.com/product.php?p...&cat=29&page=1
you see that larger diameter on them that goes inbetween the two bearings in the shafts
this is what the STRC ones are lacking and its why they have all the movement
you can shim them but when you do all you are doing is moving the lock pin in closer to the Aluminum lock out so if you really want to do it the correct way they way to do it is to build a spacer that will go in between the two bearings

i had to shim it out to stop it from letting the drive pin from hitting the lock between the bearing and the lock

I just run mine as they came, yeah there is some slop back there but i dont see it ever negatively affecting anything or screwing me over on a climb/gate or course.

i took my rear axle apart and see the play you guys are talking bout....my question is what is the I.D. of 1/4" brakeline....i don't have any on hand thats why i'm asking....i'm thinking of make a spacer from it, the strc axle is .196"....even though the axle would be out of the locker by only 1/32" that shouldn't be any problem i'm thinking.............bob

The side play doesn't cause any issues. Now the soft steel the axleshafts are made of... thats a problem
