Default Link skids

hi everyone , before I got a ax10 I read somewhere on here people were putting some kind of plastic on the skids to make them slide better and protect them but I've searched on here and I can't find it now. What is everyone doing for this? I have the artr with the rooster crawler and 55 turn motor and a couple of other mods and I really like it! Well thanks in advance!

Make some out of solid delrin. Very easy to make with Jeepindoug's link drill bushing Just measure, drill, tap and presto!

There is a product called Slick Sleeves...

Check out the vendor section, I am sure they are listed in there. PM me if you can't find them, I will get you a link...

Here you go...

Look up "acetal rod" on www.mcmaster.com and get the 5/16" solid black rod ($0.79 per foot).

Thanks everyone. That's what I was looking for. Can you bend delrin to make the 30* links?

A heat gun or torch would work. But be careful. Too much heat for too long and they will just melt. It is plastic after all.

Has anyone tried just simply slipping a drinking straw over their links? It's quick, easy slippery and did I mention....cheap?

Dunkin Donuts didn't even see me taking 5 at once.......:-P

Well I ordered some delrin from mcmaster today. When I get it im going to make some links. Does anyone know what size drill and tap I need? I am going to put it in the lathe to get the hole in the center. Thanks everyone for pointing me in the right direction. Ill post pictures after i make them. What should i do next? I have the saddle pack on the front axle, weighted and drilled wheels, rooster crawler, and i have the artr?

Man, my aluminum ones are scratched to hell... I wouldn't think that would last 5 seconds, let alone 5 minutes!

Sleeves over the links are a temporary fix. Even the slick sleeves only last so long. Solid delrin/acetal is the way to go. I make High Clearance Dogleg black delrin/acetal links from 1/4" sheet that clear any shocks and are indestructable so far. Heating and bending delrin/acetal creates a change in the molecular structure cuasing it to turn brittle. I have tested heating and bending extensively and found the best way is to cut the shape out and round the edges.

My Delrin Links: the new version does not have the holes for strength

These work great and clear even the large diameter Revo Shocks!!
