Default Drive shaft comes loose.

the main front Drive shaft keeps coming loose at the Diff.
i have tightened the two little set screws on the yoke but they keep loosening and one time the drive shaft came completly off and i had to hunt it down.
luckley it was in my front yard where it fell off where i was running it and i was lluckey enough to find it.
any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
thx Dirby
it was fun while it lasted.

thats probably the biggest flaw with this kit. the driveshafts and set screws staying tight.

one of the better upgrades are the Steel yolked stampede shafts, the Axial steel Yoked shafts or the MIPs, and some blue locktight on the set screws in the steel yolks, and 24 hrs to dry good.

double up on the loctite and you can also use another set screw on the other side of the knuckle to double up the security.

I agree, locktite - also a good set of allen drivers to really torque them down helps.

How in the heck did you find that set screw? I can drop one on white carpet and still loose it.

Thumbs up Mip's

That happened to me the first time out of the box. It happens to a lot of people. I installed MIP's and it never happened again. A little pricey but bomb proof.

it is somewhere in the Bowels og the rock crawler never to be found again.
had a couple of spares thiugh.
what size are theese set screws?

ive been thinking of installing the hardened chrome moly output shafts, and drilling the output and use the Traxxas setpins like they use in the Tmaxx's.

Make sure after you locktite you give it an overnighter to set. I used locktite on my kit, let it sit overnight, and have never had a set screw back out....... and I only use one.

well i put loctite on it and it is sitting out in the cold garrage.
i will wait til noon tomorrow to try it again.
if it does happen again i think i will remove it from the crawler and drill a hole rhrough both pieces and tap them gor a 2/56 thread than put a 2/56 screw through it with a nut on it.
that should do it.

before you do that Dirby. your going to want to install an Upgraded output shafts in the tranny. the stock ones are ok, but somewhat weak, and will likely break shortly afterwards. you can get the hardend cromoly outputs for like 20.000 so its not an Expensive upgrade, but will make a Huge differance should you decide to drill them.

Chromo outputs and drill the hole all the way through. Locktite the little bugger in and go.

Default Mip

All I have to say is scrap the stockers and go with MIP CVDs just got mine today and they work great and will last forever. $45 shipped to the house from TCS.

try heating up the set screw with a soldering iron.
when you put heat to loctite it brakes it down and makes removeing the screw easier.
try it.
