Default bent rod ends??

ok guys ive been browsing the forums and noticed that alot of guys have a bent style rod end on the steering links and where the links mount to the frame. Am i supposed to use them on my steering and frame mounts instead of traxxas ends? im upgrading my rtr so i didnt know about them just knew about traxxas ends from tlts

I use them to prevent any binding issues, and get the most flex, on the steering to keep distance from the axle and to lower drag link angles. Traxxas ends are supposed to be stronger.

I used revo rod ends and threaded rod/allthread to replace the plastic rods on my rtr.
The only problem I found was that the revo ends are bulkier than the axial ones so I had to use spacers between the frame and the balls so the rod ends wouldnt rub on the frame.
These are the mods I have made to my rtr using ideas and advice from this site,
wheel weights
replaced all the plastic links and inboarded them
split battery pack on front axle
four link top mounts front and rear
relocated esc and receiver [traxxas 3 channel rx + tx used]
45 turn motor
aluminium shocks [soon to be inverted]
dig
The links, top plates and dig I made myself using ideas from various threads here and had a great time doing so.
Enjoy modifying your truck and keep us informed on how you go

The Axial offset rod ends seem not strong enough for lower links. The straight ones seem to hold up. I've replaced my broken offset ones with straight ones and the difference in link clearance is not a big issue. If you are going to use bent lower links you should be fine with straight rod ends, they're stronger and you'll have more clearance anyhow.

Cheers.

Kyosho makes a 6.8mm offset rod end. They are an optional part for the Inferno's. I'd say they are about the same size as a Revo end.

And here's several different choices for balls in them:

traxxas part number 2742 its a 6pack of rod ends and steel chrome balls 4.00 you can use the reg hardware that came with the aluminum links 3mm fine thread if you dont have the reg links (rtr came with plastic) artr and the unbuilt kit come with the alumminums i use them on all the links except the steering and my truck is still within comp limits

I've got Traxxas Revo Ends with Axial Set Screws, No problem with steering, The steering rod ends cut the steering down just a lil bit, but it doesnt really matter to me. Traxxas ones are fine.
