Default longer stub shafts for wider hexes?

Anybody have ideas on widening the axle about 1/4" on each side? I only want to widen the front and run out of thread if I use the stock stub shafts.

I've done some seaching... would these work with an AX10?:

I know there are axle widening kits out there but most of them put the wheels out greater than 3/4" which is too much.

Any thoughts?
