| I seem to be missing a part in the axle
Finally got around to replacing the ring and pinion with the Axial low gears. The stock pinion seems to be much larger than the replacement. Every car I have had so far has had two bearings on the pinion gear, the axial did not, it is as if the extended part of the stock pinion is acting like a bushing. Fine by me, gears looked perfect when I pulled them out. But the replacement has no 'bushing' area, and if I just stick it in there most of it sticks out the front and will not even contact the ring gear. I put one together with a clutch bearing on the middle but it is not wide enough to touch the housing on the sides and can wobble. It appears to be the perfect size spacer for getting the gear mesh right, and fully assembled it runs smooth, but what am I missing here? I searched and found nothing. |

are you talking about the bevel gears in the axle? if so then there should be two bearings(AXA1221) one on the outside of the housing and one on the inside of it.

That "bushing" might be your bearing stuck to the pinion bevel, use a small screw driver to pull it off the shaft. If it was a ARTR RTR I wouldn't be surprised if it is missing. get the pdf manual here If it isn't like this and you looked everywhere (could have rolled out) you'll need a 5X11X4 bearing from the LHS or ACE. Yeah it figures. I was almost certain there had to be one there. Junk.
