You really do not need a ton of articulation, I tires worth or like stated above a soda cans worth of articulation is all you really need.

personally i like to keep articulation to a point where the amount it lifts equal the height of the tires im using. keeps me well planted and helps keep the suspension predictable an amp can is way too much unless it for a super running 40 size wheels |

-shrug- It will be different when Im done with my rig. My tuber chassis hasnt arrived here yet, and my setup will be totally different once I put everything in it. I think though, that I may have to go with a different set of shocks though, Im using stockers with aluminum bodies at the moment. ...not to mention thats the extreme limit. If I was any higher, the back tire would lift off the ground. |

What I've done is put 10mm spacers inside some HR threaded shocks and I can adjust the pre-load and spring hardness to limit my natural articulation. I'm not sure how well it's going to work, but it seems ok in home testing, need to see how it is in the real world |

I got about 3/4 of a soda can in my slingshot. A bit firm too but it uphills and sidehills like a mean SOB. Actual testing has shown that with my driving the gains are far greater than the losses.

| I agree. My Slingshot with Revo shocks gives me about 45 degrees of flex. About 3/4 of a soda can. It will float a tire over a deep hole insead of letting the tire droop and get bound up.

| i had too much articulation and it was a bitch to drive so i reduced the shock travel with spring spacers

too much, is too much, a soft suspention tends to twist a chassis past the point it was intened to go. i've seen soft chassis twist itself almost into a pretzel, to the point where there is no return.

when i first got my truck i was playing around with the suspension and managed to get around 90 degrees articulation and thought it would be great. after 15 minutes i took the truck back to my car and changed it back the way i had it. i would be going over a large obstical but it would lift the axle right upand put one tire right on the side of the wheel and it would stay there. attempts to work myself out of it resulted in flipping the truck.

| first post...so i apologize.
I have noticed some issues when i dropped red springs into the stock shocks of my ax10. so far where i crawl the ability to fully flex hasn't been a sore point to the travels, other than i am getting alot of torque steer. Has anyone tried using a stiffer spring set up on the LHS so compensate for torque steer? any favorable results?

i run with a very minimal amount of flex on mine. bout 3/4 the hight of a 1.9 flat iron tire. i even tried fixed rear , short shocked front. workd pretty good

do a search for "torque twist" and you will come up with tons of good info, i only say search cuz there is far to much for me to type out an explain right now, every thing from shock oil weights, spring rates, suspention geometry, link lengths | |
