Default bent links? how many? how long?

Well,
pay day tomorrow. I'm gonna grab the tekin fxr/35t combo. i have a tekin 45t on its way already so i'll have a few options. also getting lipos and a few other bits for my other cars.

As far as the links go. since i only have straight ones on the AX10 kit i bought last week, i was going to order some high rise ones.

i see a few people say straight in the front and bent in the rear??? is this just to save some money or is it actually better than running bent front and rear. Also, i see there are lots of lengths, stabdard, 139mm, 149mm, 159mm with bends in the middle or at the ends.

Since i only have the standard chassis do i just get standard length (101mm i think) or should i get longer ones?

thanks for any help
Alex

what about length? just get the 106mm ones? any advantage to longer?

now im confused... after searching "links" and reading a little. lots of people are putting bent on rear and straight on the front cause bent plays around with the steering??? Then looking at the ARTR kit, the bents are on the back and straight up front.

i'll buy one pair of axial bent links i guess and then decide where to put them

Bent on back, straight on front. Those heavy duty ckrc links will last you forever. If you buy axial, they will be bent before you know it. Hope this helps

If you are only going to put bent links on one end, put them on the rear of the vehicle...

im planning on getting a set of bent links as well, but it really seems like bent on the front would be better wouldn't it? for going UP things? I think it would on mine because i'm running a full droop setup and the straight front lower links hit everything I crawl up.

I'm running straight fronts, bent rears and dont have any clearance issues. I actually got hung up a lot more when i ran bent fronts than I do now.

I run bent on all four, 101mm axial, this is one of those things that is going to be a personal preference for everyone, being honest I have never had straight lowers on my rig so I can't tell you which is better I would say alot depends on your driving style and how you like to tune you link geometry.

That's a pretty good point. One thing I noticed when I ran bent on all four was my wheelbase stretched to 12.7" - not comp legal - but that was using the stock ax10 chassis and stock mounting locations.

just one more thing to keep in mind.

I ran the CKRC bent links in the rear from my first build, went with strength from the get-go....tried middle bent up front, but they had a tendency to bind up against the shox, they'd twist inwards whilst articulating onto the shock body. never seemed to have that problem with the rear bent links. I'm currently building my new rig with bent link f/r using the CKRC links as templates fro bend degrees then cutting to length, using titanium as it's strong as buggery and low friction on the rocks unlike aluminium....just a PITA the thread. going with bent up front as the sort of driving i do is boulder, so that bit extra clearance when I get the front over a big rock really helps versus straight links.
