| **the Chaotic Crawlers Nino 2s is Finally HERE
The Chaotic Crawlers El Nino has been out for over a year now and has been proven a winner. Then with few needed changes a few months ago they released the Nino 2 chassis for MOA specific. I personally run the Nino 2 MOA and am more than blown away with its capabilities and strength. Once i saw this Nino 2s that is shafty specific i just knew i wanted to do a build and see first hand how it works out. This is the First of the First in the nino 2s and soon hopefully more to follow. My build Specs: Axial Axles Axial Tranny Losi crawler shocks Rooster Crawler Esc STRC bent links JR servo Novak 55t motor Things i noticed that made it Shafty specific first off was the chassis on one side the support had been raised for the possibility to fit the trans under and the other side cross support was removed for the motor to hang out some. This skid has been made so that it can run much more narrow over stock. The skid goes under the sideplates to allow it to slide over rocks nicely and is only 55mm wide inside. It includes the two sideplates, skid, standoffs, and hardware all for a great price. First thing i did was figure out where i wanted to mount the Axial trans and got it all drilled in and mounted. Stay tuned for more pics and info as the build progresses... |

I got some linkage and shocks figured out.. First i started with the rear lower links. I took some STRC aluminum bent links and cut and drill them so they finished around 4.25 eye-to-eye. This process was quite simple and took me less than 20 minutes to do both. For now I am keeping the stock 3 link to just show this chassis doesnt require the 4 link. All I had to do to get the three link to work was add in a couple spacers where it connects to the axles. The spacers actually make it nice for adjustment on the drive shaft angles. I like to keep my rear up high out of harms way and the front pinion angle down low as to utilize my steering to its max. After my rear links were set I started on the front. I used some Traxxas Turnbuckles and put on some long Jato rod ends. I adjusted them to about 4.25 also to start. Now for the shocks. Since I once was big into shafty I feel my only front droop set up worked great to almost eliminate torque twist. I took the rears and put a piece of rubber tubing inside about 5\8, filled the socks with 60 wt oil, then used a losi red to stiffen it up. This set up doesnt allow much travel in the rear at all but the less travel really helps your rear track better IMO. For the front I put a TCS internal Medium strength spring inside and 30 wt oil. Then to adjust your height just put rubber tubing under the shock til your belly height is just where you like it. I have mine set up now to sit just over 2". This build is really coming along and everything seems to be working out great. |

| The skid is made from 1/2 delrin but once the bottom center is channeled out it is basically a 3/8. This design has been quite popular and proven to work out quite well with not getting hung up on rocks as bad as the old flat design.

from our experience, we have never had a motor hang up on anything or recieve any damage while competing or bashing. and i would dare say that the utah guys probably run some of the lowest GC in the country from what I have seen. you could wrap the can in lexan like alot of berg rigs do, of you were worried about it though! |

I got a little more done on it..I go the servo mounted up with an alumium horn and set and centered. I threw the wheels on there but I can tell right away they will need more weight for the internal springs to work to the max. Its sitting at a pretty good ride height and all the suspension and links seem to be working out well. Few more shots:: |
