| Vp Zero Akers + Axial Clockable C's Problem.
Hey guys I am trying to install some VP Zero Akers and am having trouble lining up the bolt holes. I am using standard axial top hats. But the holes are just not lining up. Has any body else had this drama or know why this could be happening could the knuckles or the C's be bent? |

I'd try to assemble without the axles first, just to see if they will bolt up. Then make sure axles are seated in the bearings all the way, then try again to assemble. After that, I'm stumped-unless someone sold you Berg knuckles.

ok so that is interesting I tried it with out the axle and bolted up fine. The axles I am using are Super 300's and I have just installed Beef toobs. Do you think that could have any thing to do with it? I am sure the Knuckles are right I got them from SDS customs when I bought the 300's bearings seem to be seating fine so I am at a loss. |

There is another thread about fit issues with the Beef tubes. Check in there and report it. The maker is willing to make alterations to the tubes if any fit problems are reported. Weird axle shaft problems |

Highlucks got his tubes from Casey undrilled. Super 300's don't have a flange to hold the bearings in like stock dogbones, which is how the fit issues started. Highlucks-I assume you bolted up the C's to the housings with the tubes installed inside? You said they bolted up fine, so your drilling the tubes should have come out OK. I know from running 300's, the bearing fit is very tight, will the bearings slide further up the axle towards the ball? I'm thinking the bearing is not sliding as far onto the CVD shaft as it should, preventing the assembly from being bolted together. |

Thanks Scott I will check that. I have loctited the bearings on but I am sure I will be able to shift them. I will give that a go and report back. |

Ya I'm with Gun... break the loctite loose and it should let the axle slide in more to give the axle the room it needs.

I have moved the bearing closer to the CVD and I did manage to get the second knuckle screw in but it was very tight and hard to line up. Got them both tightened up and the knuckle has to be forcefully moved. Any more suggestions Last edited by Highlucks; 09-25-2010 at 10:14 AM. |

| if that's the case, I think one of the holes you drilled might a few thousanth's off. does the C look straight on the housing? If it is cocked even a small amount, the axle shaft will prevent the knuckle from bolting on.

I reckon you might be right mate. I will take it out, flip it over and drill the other end. Hopefully I can get it right this time. |

you could just rotate it 90 degree and drill it again. Easy and quick. Report back when you are done. Casey |

Remember that there is a long side and a short side on those cvd's, to match the locker, altho that is to ovious to miss, just wanna make sure. I too had that same problem fitting the VP knucle onto the Axial C, and I solved it by grinding the locker side of the cvd on the passenger side just a tad bit. It could be that you are having the exact same problem as I did, good luck. |
