UGC F4/fastback now with longer BEEF TOOBS, any fast back tops still out there???

This one is for my son, both of us are building this. I would really like to run a fastback top if there is one out there and they want to part with it PM me please. The chassis came from a freind on here who also bought it from the classifieds here. That is why there is no top, I had no choice.

We are fairly new to RC crawling and I want to make this one from the ground up. No kits, RTR or ARTR and as I have learned no integy stuff. The only only major axial parts should be the axles and transmission.

This is really cool to get to build stuff like this with my boy he has seen RC crawling comps and knows what a comp rig should look like and have for parts. Its going to be fun.
Starting parts list

-Orange Under Ground Crawlers F-4 Chassis with a sweet white skid
-New axial axles
-New axial Trans
-Home-brewed delrin lower links 3/8" thick 4MM traxas ends
-Home-brewed delrin uppers 5/16" thick with 3MM ends(axial and traxas)
-STRC front servo plate
-STRC aluminum Cs and steering knuckles
-East End Machine HD motor plate
-Losi shocks White springs.
-Unknown ESC old from my rig
-Integy 55t used motor from my old rig
-HiTech 645mg servo
-
-STRC rear 4 link plate
-axial wheels (for now)
-we have some ProLine hammers to get it rolling they are very short though. Less than 5 inches tall...
-Home-brewed upper link mounts. I got the basic idea from the DUUUDE link mount.
-STRC rear straight axle kit
-Big tub of Gorrila SNAWT for the gears and trans.
- I have a MIP drive shaft and a couple HR metal shafts around. So a mix of those to turn the axles right now.

Very cool start "thumbsup"

I just got a box from RPP today with new driveshafts for my F-4. Very cool to see your build here today!

One of the best F-4 threads to look through is Duuuuuuuudes.

Very cool to see one of these come back to life! I can make no promises, but may have an extra set of fastback uppers.

If not, I'd be happy to trace mine for you and send you the drawing so you can get some sheet delrin and cut your own.

The latter is probably the best option, I think I only have the one set.

Send me a PM as a reminder, I have a very full plate right now and crawler stuff is not at the front.

Come on Juan just bring back the Fastback! It will still sell good... tons of guys still want them!

I think demand has definitely increased now that supply is limited. I made sure to draw up templates when I got mine so I can make replacement tops when needed - I have no intention of letting mine go.

durrty 03-22-2011 11:20 PM

Got it finished and should be going out soon for a first run with it.

We put a tekin FXR in it in stead of the unkown.

I made some PORK PIPES.. LOL a set of tubes similar to beef tooobs. They are 1 ounce each and made of brass and as thick as I could make them with out interfering with the axle. Made in the USA too. I have put these in both our rigs now.

put 4mm traxxas rod ends into the losi shocks.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...d/DSCN0874.jpg

I ran a tap through the shock. That way it will be that much harder for it to leak. I also put some gasket maker/sealer on the bolt and threads. No leaks from the modded end.

Thats a little longer than we wanted, since the pics we trimmed the link end as much as we could. Works great. Put 3mm traxxas rod ends on the shaft side too.

I also made some brass spacers that ended up weighing exactly 1.5oz HA I figured it would be really close but not dead nutz..

And for the hell of it I made a BTA steering link. .

The steering is crap.

That arm on the knuckle is aluminum, its actually part of a stock AX10 cahssis LOL.

The servo, linkage, radio... I dont know what is keeping it from pushing the tires far enough. I am thinking about making the drag link shorter(toe out more?) and if that doesn't work I will move the steering back to the front until we get a new TX and or better servo.

Its been awhile.. I have to show these video clips. Shows the greatness of the UGC Chassis. Recently we clocked the front knuckles a bunch and added axial C hubs and a 7950 hitech. I am working on the pics.

But the video is plain and simple ownage..... my son is 14 and has little stick time compared to the guy with the SWX (who is more than twice that age) notice no trash talk from my boy he is a bad ass.

Its nothing "pro" just shows how well the UGC Chassis works when built correctly.

And the SWX

Just got a HH Crawlmaster 16t and a couple 3s batteries to go in yet..

Crawling Calvin 06-27-2011 12:57 AM

Wow it lives :ror:

That looks amazing and nice job on the uber crazy clocking, it really is worth all the effort in the end "thumbsup"

Hmm similarities
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Q...0505011444.jpg
Now all it needs is some side panels 8)

durrty 07-08-2011 01:01 AM

That is looking good. The front shocks lay down nicely on your rig. cool

durrty 07-08-2011 01:39 AM

we ordered up some more torque and low end butter... in the flavor of a 16t crawl-master and an upgrade to 3s lipo today.

put a 12t pinion on it and stayed with the stock 87t spur. I feel like a 90t spur would be even better but its not going to fit. The rig is so good and it will haul ass when you want it to.

Within 90 seconds of driving around with it(in the house on the tile floor too) SNAP!!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...22/SNAPPED.jpg

LMAO awesome
I have had that solid steel gear rolling around the box for a long time so snapping that stock piece was no big thang. Needed more gorilla SNAWT in the trans anyhow.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...2/mmorotrw.jpg

We need some sides for it and dont know what to use. Aluminum is the top and hood but dont want that on the sides I think it will not slide well at all.

Crawling Calvin 07-08-2011 01:42 AM

I used whatever Parma Lexan stuff the hobby shop had to sell me and so far, great results "thumbsup" paints up amazing also. It is what I used in the photo above of my car.
