Default driveshaft ring clearance on gear

Anyone clearanced the axial driveshaft rings to clear the spur(big gear?)? Mine doesn't come close to fitting when the suspension is at bump, but I'm afraid if I grind it down to clear it'll lose all strength... Can I shim the trans maybe? Any ideas?

What spur are you using? I've got the stock 87t and have no clearance issues at all, and my suspension compresses quite a bit...

Can you post a picture of the problem area on your crawler? I'm looking at my AX-10 and I can't see where you might be having the problem.
A picture would definitely help me get on the right track.

Please excuse the slightly twisted D/S.

At bump and flexing it's within a 1/16" of the gear.

If it fits, it fits. Mine comes close too, and as far as I know it might even touch once in a while.

Whats the tooth count on that spur? Looks a wee bit big.

87 spur. The 1/16th is without the ring... that's just the driveshaft.

As long as it doesn't actually hit, getting close is fine. Also remember that a crawler very rarely compresses its suspension down fully - it'll articulate like crazy, but unless you're taking it off some sweet jumps, it won't just squash down like the go-fast rigs do.

Install it and see what it does. Axial wouldn't make them if they didn't fit properly.

My MIP's are closer than that with a stock 87t spur gear. Run it!
