Default Total noob

Hey guys I'm new to rc cars
My buddy came over the other day with a modded ax10 I played with it on the rocks for a half hour or so and I was hooked
Anyway I picked one up rtc and a jeep Jk body
Trying to catch up with mods
(I have a real Jk with a rock kralwer 5.5 3 link long arm coilovers and currie 60's on 37's)
I ordered this http://www.ckrccrawlers.com/ckrc-sta...nks-p-575.html
And there viper servo battery plate
Came in the mail today I tear into it
clueless, didn't know I had to build joints for the arms, or that some joints came in the ax-10 box
Also it didn't come with any of the "Axial Set Screw M3x16mm"
anyone have any tips or pointers for my build?
Thanks

Dont have any experience with that kit but for another 30 bucks you could buy a gatekeeper gc3a chassis and have one bad A$$ crawler!!You just bolt on your axles, tranny and electronics and set it up the way the directions tell you and go crawl after wasting money on mine making links and buying all the different rod ends this would have been cheaper in the end!It says 89 bucks but add it to your cart and its 62 bucks
DuraTrax Gatekeeper GC-3A Comp Chassis Kit Axial [dtxc0017] - $62.99 : CKRC Crawlers, RC Rock Crawlers

That looks like the way to go, I'll look into that
Thanks
Edit
Wonder if you can put a body on it

If I'm not mistaken, you are trying to replicate your full size Jeep, correct?

If that's the case, you should skid the Gatekeeper chassis, since it is geared more towards comp crawling and not scaler builds.

Not quite going for a full out scale jeep, just dig having the body on it

I wanna see the swx and gc3a with the same tires electronics ect... Wheel together and see how they compare. I think I'm gonna order the gc3a and build it so that I have both lol.

Not sure what comes with the Stage 2 kit, but when I ordered the color pack upgrade I also had to get the AXA1411 Parts Tree. It comes with the rod ends and hardware.

If you have anything like these the "balls" just snap into the rod ends and then thread onto the grub screws ("Axial Set Screw M3x16mm") then into the aluminum links.

If you're just going to have fun and play with this then I wouldn't worry about going all out on a new chassis. I've had mine for a little over a month and everyday it seems to impress me with what it does.

Keep us posted on your build. My son wants to do the Unlimited Rubicon body on his AX-10. I wonder how bad the tires rub it? How did you mount the body? Top mount?

We too have a 1:1 Jeep Rubicon Unlimited. Ours is on 35's and mostly stock except for a 2.5" lift, a Rampage front bumper and a Superwinch epi 9.0.

Will do,
A rubi on 35s will get you most anywhere
I put pitbulls and wheel weights on this week and am
Waiting on the set screws to arrive to change out the arms
The tires barely rub on the body
I actually like the sound it reminds me of my jeep rubbing on my old flares when the tires stuffed all the way
I did hve to stubbify the bumpers that came with the Proline body though

Yeah, I get the "bzzzz..pop pop pop" of the tire on the flares with my 1:1 Rubi when I'm stuffing a front tire.

Thanks for the info on the Proline Jeep body. I had just about given up on trying it because I didn't want to spend the bucks to drop back to 1.9 wheels and tires, add frame extensions and top mount posts. It's good to see that the body will fit on an AX-10 on 2.2's.
