Default saddle pack mounts for AX10?

Does anyone make a kit of saddle pack mounts for the AX10? I'd like to convert my son's to use a saddle pack to get some weight up front and lower his CG. I saw a picture that looked like plates that mounted to the axle with velcro cinch straps attached to each plate to hold the battery cells down, but I haven't had much luck locating anyone selling such a thing. I'd appreciate any advice or tips on where I could get some. Thanks!

I've found them in delrin and aluminum.

That looks like a pretty good idea but I don't see any way to mount lipos there due to my high steering. I could mount a couple small batteries on end, like tombstones, but that would raise their cg -- so not much point.

A thin lipo like a TP325 will fit low enough to get under the tie-rod, but is too long to fit parallel to the axle, and if mounted longitudinally the shock forces it to stick out the front.

Has anyone come up with a clever idea to mount a pair of small lipos on the front axle that stay low and clear everything?

Most people just run one Lipo on one side of the front axle, with their servo on the other side.

As far as the saddle packs go, I never used a mount when I had them. One velcro strap around each one was always plenty, and the battery sat directly on the axle...can't get much lower than that.

Yes, but if you do it that way on a wide servo plate, the battery now sits considerably above the axle tube height. I'd be interested in using the low spaces just above the axles on either side, like these saddle mounts do. But I agree, no need for the actual plates.

Apparently I haven't looked in the same cool places you have... or maybe I didn't know the correct term to search for (I'm an XR10 guy, but I got an AX10 for my son this past Christmas so I'm still new to modding those rigs). But I came up empty... care to share your awesome resources?

Thanks man, by golly those are pretty much it. They don't have the velcro cinch straps like the ones I saw in the pic though, I wonder if they could somehow be added? I see they just used plain velcro stuck to the bottom of the split packs, which might work also. Oh well, that's pretty darn close. Thanks for your help! I now have a good direction to go in. I appreciate it!

I just look around. I use the same resources and vendors that everyone else does. Please tell us what you end up ordering...

I've noticed that arrangement on XR10 rigs, because the servo sits to the right side... but for the AX-10, the servo sits directly in the center, hence the saddle pack use. So you sit the saddle packs sideways, so that the two cells on the bottom of the pyramid kind of straddle the axle itself and then strap them directly down around the axle? Interesting tip. Did you ever have a problem with them rotating forward or back on the axle?

Ok, will do. I like the look of the black delrin plates from TCS that Szczerba posted. I just wish they had slots in them to run a velcro strap through. The velcro stuck to the bottom of the packs directly on the plates looks decent, but I don't know if I'd fully trust it not to come off in an impact or something.

Where else have you looked, or are you just going to go with what Shane posted up?

What if I were to tell you that you are 3 simple clicks away from finding exactly what you want?

Many AX-10's use the same setup as the XR-10. Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

That's how I strapped down 6 cell packs, and I also did the same with 8. I never noticed any problems with them rotating. Just pull the straps tight.

I'm not ready to go just with what Shane posted yet, I'd like to look at more. I can't remember where else I looked offhand now. But I'd love for you to impart on me this wonderful '3-click' plan of yours!

The three-click plan involves you doing some investigating on your own.
