Default Axial (semi tuber) in the works!

It's been a while since I built one, I'm using 1/4 rod and a mig welder. Still no tube or oxy/acetylene set up yet.
If anyone has suggestions please help
Criticism is welcome

well hard to say, only 1 pic.
looks good so far.

perhaps try to tack/dot weld, that weld you have there will effortless hold up for 100 times your rc car weight.
they look good anyways.

I made a skidplate in Sketchup to turn my trans up on it's side like that, but have no means to get it made. Now that I'm wanting to go bodiless, hardly seems worth investing anything in a skidplate for my stock AX.

Keep us posted, I'm kinda interested to see how this turns out.

Thanks. The weld there was tacked i just tacked it all the way since it was for the tranny, figuring a lot of torque would come out of it plus that plate is really thin. I hope to get more up today.

It's a interesting build so far you've obviously got something unique in mind.

Thanks! Usually I just start bending cut and weld. Never really a solid plan

Not yet...still gathering materials and tools. I will braze though, and anything related to that will catch my eye lately. I will share my progress as soon as I get halfway good at it.

just a thought.

is not the motor more weight then the tranny?
woud perhaps be better to have the motor as low as possible??

?

This is awesome so far. Question: is that tubing or solid rod? If rod, won't this be pretty heavy? Just wondered. Maybe the weight is part of your plan.

Yeah it's 1/4 rod. The chassis is a ton I don't have money for tubing and I have about 100 ft of the rod.
No plan towards the weight, just that its all I have to use.

I can certainly understand that. Good luck to you; looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I like the sideways tranny idea. Is that to make the truck more narrow in the center?
