Hey Ho! I have been a member here for a while even but haven't written that much Now it's time to change that so I present to you my crawler, Grindvaktarn, which is Swedish and stands for "the Gatekeeper". It is an Axial AX10 that I have been modding for a while. I have owned it for about three years but not until now have I been doing it seriously. This is what it looked like when I got it: Basically a standard AX10, tourqe twisting like hell Drove it for some time and about two years ago a friend showed me his crawler with Gatekeeper chassie and told me to buy the Gatekeeper GC-3A, and so I did I also bought a VW body and some Axial claws, I was pretty happy with how it performed but wanted more. The next step was, after reading about lightweight crawlers on a swedish board, to lower the center of gravity and put the weight on the front axle. I moved the electronics to a Lexan plate on the front links and lowered the body. New tires were also bought, now Im trying out White Rovers with Pro-Line foams. I also bought Beef Tubes. So this is today, as it stands now it has: - Gatekeeper GC-3A chassie - Savöx 1256TG servo - Tekin FXR Esc - Novak Forty-Five motor - Rover White Dot - Axial wheels - Axial CVD's - Standard driveshafts with Hot Racing aluminum rings on - Noname Aluminum knuckles - Standard shocks with springs of unknown origin, softer than original. - Beef Tubes in the front axle I am planning to enter my first crawling comp in 2 weeks so I hope it performs well. I have ordered Over/Underdrive combo and I hope it gets here on time so I can install it and try it before the comp. If someone have an opinon I'd like to hear it If you have tips and tricks to share, hit me! I would like to have advice on other shocks, because I think the standard ones aren't that good in competition. Pictures from today: Last edited by 4x4Offroad; 06-03-2013 at 02:40 PM. |

Went to my first crawling competition last weekend, the RC4WD Nordics in Tanumstrand, Sweden. I think the car handled pretty well. Need new schocks though. I got a tip to widen the front axle so Junfac wideners is now ordered. Im thinking of adding 4WS too, I know it's not accepted in competitions but it adds an extra challenge when driving outside competitions Here are some pictures of my car from Nordics: |

+1 on the XR mod ... It is by far the best mod for the AX10 axle, it will give you better steering angle, less binding at max steer, increased sidehill stability ... I got some nice pics in my buildthread showing what is involved when using Creationfab premium tubes http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/axial...d-suduone.html |

+2 on the XR mod. Opens up the way it goes and handles. Rig looks great by the way. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2 |

First of all: Thank you for the compliments! I have considered the XR-mod, now even more when I read yor recommendations! I have made a wanted ad for the XR parts now on my local forum Quote:
CreationFab - Delrin Tubes CreationFab Parts Wide Splined Delrin Tubes *PREMIUM VERSION* I can't figure out which ones to buy. I have also looked at the wider tubes made by biggin69, but they dont seem to have the splined version? | |

Those are the ones I used splined for the front and un-splined for the rear |
