Default Beef Tubes

Wanted to get a consensus from you guys on weather beef tubes are a worthwhile initial upgrade when building a 2.2 comp crawler.

Gee, thanks guys.... I'm putting together a comp crawler, and wanted to know if they were a must have. I am going to be building this on a budget, and want to know where to put it on the list.

Take it easy mate...you just dont get it. Gunnar is the one who designed them...and I sell them. We work together.

Here are the facts. We have sold nearly 1000 sets.
I have them in EVERY AX10 or SCX10 axle I own. I would not run an axle without them.
These get rid of all slop, and protect from axle damage.

If I were you, I would not build an axle without them.

Casey

Put them at the top of your list. they are cheap to buy, add weight down low and make the axles stronger. Win Win Win in my book

You need them when you have high steer knuckles as the leverage from those knuckles can twist the ends of the plastic axle cases right off. So high steer knuckles, aluminium c-hubs and beef toobs are all needed at the same time at that stage of your upgrades. It sounds like a whole lot of money to spend at once but if you do it one piece at a time, you'll eventually have to upgrade all 3 anyway, plus maybe replace an axle case.

Have a look at some of the build threads, you'll get an idea.

I don't have KC's tubes, as I've already made my own, but I do think they are good value as far as upgrades go.

I'm running basically the same thing as beef toobs in my crawler with a broken C-hub. The fact you can run around on a broken c-hub and actually crawl speaks enough to the need for them considering I broke my c-hub before I had tubes.

Definitely a must.

Bullet-proof axles are the #1 priority on a comp rig (IMHO)

As such, knuckles, C-hubs, beef toobs, and hardened gears (overdrive in front is a good idea) should be at the top of your list.

For the money you should buy 2 sets, front and rear axles. They also help when doing some serious clocking.

Strength, clocking, non-rotating mass weight gain, strength. toughness, strength

Why wouldn't you buy them?

i Have them in the fronts but not in the rear. Must haves? - For comp spec - yes. For anything else then very sensible.

Whilst you buying Gunnars tubes thes buy his pins too.

Yeah, eventually you'll be down to the axle casings and transmission case!
