| axle gearing
I have seen in many different threads people are running different gearing in the axles. What gearing is being ran in which axle and why? I would think this would cause problems like it can in a full sized 4x4 truck. |

Normally, shafties run overdrive in the front and underdrive in the rear. A number of benefits to this, one being that you can produce a similar action to front dig, helping with making corners. Unless you want to run at racetrack speeds, there's no adverse affect with this type of gearing. At least none that'll appear during crawling at under 5 MPH. |

Gearing changes are usually made in such a way that the front axle turns faster than the rear. Resulting in an almost constant dig action, for lack of a better description. Rc trucks weigh quite a bit less than 1:1, the weight difference makes it moot in this situation. Edit: Solitaire beat me... |
