Default Used Scorpion or new Deadbolt?

I have an opportunity to get a used scorpion in lieu of a new deadbolt. Seems like the main difference is the chassis? Is newer better?

There's two Deadbolts on the market.
The original has the same axles as the SCX10 (and Scorpion). The newer has the same axles as the Wraith.

When it comes to crawling, I don't recommend ever considering used unless you know the person and know it's in tip top shape. Crawlers get abused and are subjected to many nasty conditions that wreak havoc on bearings, electronics, etc.

True, but a used crawler would be torn down, rebuilt and upgraded anyway...at least if I bought it, that's what I would do. I would do the same with a new crawler too though, so why spend the extra money?

Don't buy junk, but if it appears sound and has everything included I wouldn't let it scare me away.

That would be fine if you got the crawler for an insane, dirt cheap price. Otherwise it probably makes more sense to just buy new. Dingo SCX10 kits can be had for under $200 these days at Tower Hobbies.

Does the Scorpion AX10 have any upgrades? Is it the Kit version or the RTR? and compare the electronics with the New Deadbolt too.

Depends on what is upgraded on the used one, price, pictures of used truck etc.

Yes and I much prefer 1.9 wheels and tires or smaller on crawler.

X2, RPP Hobby has great coupon codes going for Christmas. Vaterra Ascender is another excellent right out of the box crawler with 1.9 tires.

I've never been scared of used trucks and have bought several. The money you save by buying used can be used to upgrade it the way you want it. The RTR electronics are medicore at best and usually get upgraded anyways. Just make sure to test drive it before buying and thoroughly look it over.

Buy the deadbolt. The ax10 in the picture would require multiple upgrades.
