Battery on Axle/ 4 link question https://www.amainhobbies.com/st-raci...a30486s/p32730 Who all uses this plate? I am wanting to get my battery on the axle since I don't have anywhere to currently mount it (hot racing chassis) how much does going to 4 link up front do compared to the Y link? Anyone have pics of the setup? any thread I find the pics have been hijacked by photobucket What are other plates out there that will move the battery onto the axle? |
Re: Battery on Axle/ 4 link question I used it a few years back. 149 r/c worx/scalerfab/team brood. |

Re: Battery on Axle/ 4 link question That's a nice setup. whats the benefit of mounting the servo like that? What size lipo could I fit? I wanna run 3s if possible any more pics of it with battery etc on it? |
Re: Battery on Axle/ 4 link question I run the destroy plate too. It is great. Going to a true 4 link will make a big difference. Side note Billet Works Design makes a couple different styles of these plates as well but I haven't tried them so I can't say whether they are any good or not. here is the link for those. Re: Battery on Axle/ 4 link question Quote:
Running the servo vertical will lower the cg, because it moves the heaviest part of the servo closer to the axle. It also will move the steering links up and out of the way. I used to run a fit a 1300mah 3s on mine. I got like an hour and a half of crawling on that. I wasn't really pushed for room. I tried a 2200 mah but but that was too long. Now I run a 450mah 3s because it is lighter. I know these threads have good pics in there somewhere with batteries. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/axial...anted-evo.html http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/axial...into-2-2s.html http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/axial...-un-stuck.html |

Re: Battery on Axle/ 4 link question Sorry forgot to say that is on the destroy plate Live it love it crawl it |
Re: Battery on Axle/ 4 link question Btw if you have the stock battery tray from the scorpion you can drill a couple holes in it and make the same thing as the one you were asking about. I did that and ran it for a while and worked pretty good for free. I’ll see if I have any pics of it. Live it love it crawl it |
Re: Battery on Axle/ 4 link question That's the downside, mine didn't come with a battery tray at all lol Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk |
Re: Battery on Axle/ 4 link question So I ordered the destroy plate. so on to the next question. What do I need to get rid of the Y link and make it 4 link? |
Re: Battery on Axle/ 4 link question 'Most " after market plate come pre-drilled for the uppers, certainly the old VP, BWD and current RCBros plates are pre-drilled. After that its a bag of rod ends, and some threaded links or allthread and cut and fit. I use drinking straws which I cut to length between hole centres as best I can, then build the links to hat length, eye-to-eye. I am using the RCBros Front 4-link plate and with the se rvo under-mounted and and RX immediately above it can comfortably fit 3s430 packs, and probably up to a 1A pack on top. |
Re: Battery on Axle/ 4 link question well, all the screws, ends etc have been ordered. I used the list of parts from the STRC plate for the 4 link so we will have to see how that goes (hopefully one of the set screws also fits in the driveshaft) |
Re: Battery on Axle/ 4 link question Plate is installed. was it supposed to come with spacers to go between the axle and the plate? Also need some spacers and to make my drag link https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1c0b39cf59.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6f052a8528.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3d6a545330.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...91c4741805.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...33f1838e55.jpg Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk |

Re: Battery on Axle/ 4 link question Looks like you have vintage voodoo tires. You need to space out your wheels some. 149 r/c worx/scalerfab/team brood. |
Re: Battery on Axle/ 4 link question It doesn’t come with spacers and I’m not sure if they are required but I did put one on mine on the servo side only. I figured with the torque of the servo it needs a little more support on that side. But like I said I don’t know if it is actually needed. Live it love it crawl it |
Re: Battery on Axle/ 4 link question The distroy plate is fine like you have it. I ment you may need to widen the space between your front tires to clear the plate. 149 r/c worx/scalerfab/team brood. |
