Default ax-10 upper suspention link washer fix

Sorry for the blurred photo but I think you can make out the washer. I'd like to see a alum. replacement (connecting bracket).. or maybe rcp's 4 link piece might be the answer.. time will tell. I can't wait for the after market parts to start rolling out!!!

Try taking another picture.. I cant make out anything. (Then again, I did just wake up)..

(For the picture, if you stand back, take the shot, put the picture on the PC, and Crop it, making that specific spot "bigger," It would help alot)

I'll take a macro shot when I get home if anyone hasn't done it before then. I'll post up the specific Du-Bro washer I used as well - cheap and easy fix if it works. It's seems hardly worth mentioning, but I suppose it'd be great information for new Scorpion owners to be armed with during the build process. Hey Axial - LOVE THE TRUCK - but I can't imagine this problem didn't come up during testing. It's happened to most of the guys I've chatted with on their first battery pack.
And please, anyone thinking about posting up a "Axial Scorpion is a POS OMGLOL!!!" thread, please refrain. The truck is as good or better than most custom built rigs I've seen so far, and we're still on the first production run. I feel silly mentioning that it's that good costing only a fraction of what a custom built crawler would run.

I've ran quite a few packs through mine... still haven't had that problem. (Except for the knuckle snapping... But that makes for awesome 180s off of rocks, and pretty sharp right turns

Oh yeah? Check me out.

However, two more packs through the truck, and everything is holding fine. Somehow.

So, this is probably the easiest "mod" you'll ever make. I could probably just post a single pic that would get the point across, but I though I should demonstrate the angle at which the wrench should be held while applying rotational force on the screw:

And a pic of the fruits of my labor:

Heck, to make it REALLY easy, I'll even share the EXACT washer I used ( I know, I'm feeling generous!). It's A Du-Bro part # 2109 3mm washer - the same type most of us use in conjunction with a 3mm screw to bolt the motors in our cars.
Anyway, in all seriousness, this completely fixed the problem I was having. The truck kicks *** in nearly every way now! Keep in mind I'm new to scale crawling and have no prior experience to base the previous statement on.

Forgot to mention, this ENTIRE operation can be performed without removing the steering servo.

Question Ummm...

Can you put a piece of rubber hose, or fuel line between the axle and washer? (Some people have mentioned that the washer only stops it from popping out "completely")
The rubber might keep it held in and still allow for articulation.

Still waiting for mine... I hope within two days.
Just thinking out loud.

It seems to work fine as is. I think I was the one that mentioned the washer not preventing the ball from popping out "completely". I bound everything up pretty good last night, everything looks good. I think I'll be needing to buy new upper link brackets (the plastic piece that the ball fits in to) since the repeated popping in and out stretched the opening - there is now a bit of play. Not bad, but I'm sure they're going to be cheap to replace.

True. And it only takes 2 minutes to do. Just had to do this very thing while on a run yesterday. I should have done it when I first read it was a problem, but I just had to see for myself. Still haven't fixed the rear. Guess I'll have to do it now.
