| bmuzz1's new tube chassis
After fabbing the new exo bumper for my Scorpion I have decided to fabricate my own tube chassis for my Scorpion or start a new rig using my Stampede as a donor car along with some other spare parts. I will be sure to post pictures this weekend as I start construction. These are just a couple of pictures of my exo cage that I made last week. Last edited by bmuzz1; 09-20-2007 at 09:58 AM. |

Looks great. How long did that take you to build? (the cage)

Her are some pictures of the tube chassis that I started today after my first comp. I should have it finished Monday or Tuesday if all goes well. Last edited by bmuzz1; 09-20-2007 at 09:56 AM. |

Thanks...The front bumper took me about three hours to make start to finish. I contoured the steel rod around the body one bend at a time. The only welding was on the stinger, mounts, and hoop over the cab, everything else was bent by hand. It is mounted on the hood and then under the bed where the rock sliders end. I will try to post a new photo of the mounting points later.

Thanks everyone! The tubing is 3/16" and 1/8" steel rod which I MiG welded to the pan. The pan is one piece of 16g steel plate that I molded by hand using a vice and body hammer. The paint is a hammered gray metallic. I really can't believe how well this thing came out...I am pretty stoked! Hope you like it as well complete. |

I got it from Ace Hardware, it is Rust-Oleum Hammered. I am pretty sure you can probably find it at Home Depot also. I think it comes in four or five different colors.
