Default Scorpion tuber

I just got done ops checking my new tuber for the Scorpion. I got rid of the 3 link set up and went with a 4 link. I made some custome servo mount/upper link plates that work mint! I wish I had some softer springs for the stock shocks, other than that it runs great. I am including a picture of the servo plate. Check it out.

I guess it might be backwards. The skid plate can be mounted either way, I just srewed it in backwards, I am used to my TLT drive gear facing forward. I wondered why I had to reverse my throttle on the controller.

I noticed I had no rear twist either, I just thought that might have to do with the 4 link instead of 3 link set up. Actually I haven't noticed any twist at all on this tuber.

Looks great. What size tubes did you use. They look thick, also did you use the links from the 3 link or did you make new ones? Great build.

I made new ones using Traxxas ends. I used 3/16" and 1/4" except for the primary body tube with the shock mount holes I used 3/8".

Yes it is an axle snapper, very low rpms and battery consuption. It is a little low on power but it gets the job done with no need for gear reduction.

That thing looks real tough man. What is the weight on it? Im pretty sure your tranny isnt backwards(could be wrong) . I believe that the spur gear is usually facing forward!

That is a good idea to reverse the tranny/motor to eliminate rear twist

Honestly I just slapped it on there so I could operational check the suspension. On my 2.2 TLT I mounted the battery on top of the steering servo and it helps alot. I didn't notice any significant improvement with the battery in the back.

It's a little heavier than the stock chassis, not much though maybe 4-6 oz heavier. She doesn't have any twist though, part due to the reverse mount of the tranny and partly because I pre-loaded the shocks using silicon fuel line.

I guess if putting your motor/trans in the way you did eliminated the tork twist than it couldn't be all that bad. If I hadn't designed my belly pan to have the spur gear facing the rear of my car then I might give it a shot myself. That's why I joined this forum...You learn something new everyday!

you can see the lip at the front of my pan to protect the motor in this picture.

Default tranny flip

i flipped my motor and tranny around its a big improvement when getting vertical.but if your turning left or right and you burnout in dirt or you chuck mudd rocks etc, its going straight into the spur gear .i am making a guard today to protect it.

Thanks for the insight before I hit the loose stuff! I will figure something out to protect mine too.

using use a brushless ( small ) with this " reverse setup" and the spur facing fwd leaves the weight about equal front to back.... love it on my rigs....the benifits out weigh...

always a question....what goes where??????

go for it
