Default new guy with crawler question

Hey everybody, first let me introduce myself...my name is Ben and i live in NC. this is my first crawler and i am not sure what to expect but the scorpion seems like an awesome little kit. i have had a tmaxx in the past but this is totally different.
on to my question....
i have been building the kit and noticed that both my pinions have quit a bit of in an out play in them. i thought i put everything together right but am concerned that i missed a step and i am going to have slop in my axles. i have a 1:1 truck and know how to set up gears and this just doesnt seem right. thanks for the help and i will post up pics of my new ax-10 when im all done.
heres my 1:1 tacoma crawler thats a work in progress.

Welcome to the newest addiction...these little ones are addictive! Man your Tacoma looks nice...trying to find me one of those around my area isn't so easy :(.

As for the ring/pinion fit, yup mine was a bit sloppy too. I used some shims I had for my Nitro Racers...

Sweet 1:1 rig. My neighbor has an old Yota sitting in our driveway that he doesnt even use. I keep begging him to sell it to me so I can make it a trail rider. Crazy neighbors....
