Default Ground Clearance

I hear everybody using Traxxas Big Bores on their AX10 rigs. So i got a set and threw them on. I also have three seperate set of springs with them(white losi's, stock red, and i think the others are HPI black). Anyway after i put these on i couldnt believe how much ground clearance i lost. I mean my rig was flat all the way across and i used to have somewhat of an arch. I understand its key to have a low cog but at the same time a lowrider aint gonna clear rocks! Am i missing something in having a good crawler?

A buddy just put 4" shocks on his and asked me the same thing. I told him to run it and see how it works out. I think the clearance is only like 2 1/4" which to me, seems too low for our terrain. But it might work for yours. I've seen plenty of "bellydraggers" on here, so it's not like it's a horrible setup, just depends on the terrain. If you need to get some height back, try putting the Axial shock shafts into your new shocks. You may have to put in a bumpstop to keep the piston from hitting the shock cap.

Well what i did was use put the big bore springs on the stock shocks and problem was solved. Now its back to where it was before at 3" and my articulation is even better!

You can use the stock axial shafts in the Big Bore bodies for more shaft length which can turn into more ground clearance.

I also had the same prob. I drilled new holes , 1cm below the original shock location, and it bumped me up to a little under 3 1/4 inch belly highth from 2 1/2 inch.

You don't need high ground clearance, the stock set up is WAY WAY too high anyway. Nothing is going to get hung up on the bottom, it will just slide over everything. Get bend links, and you can run 2" of ground clearance and do well. Let all the other guys flip over, be the smart one who has his rig nice and low. Your tires will do the work, they'll pull you across damn near anything.
If you're at 2.5" clearance, you're fine.
