| Share my ideas on fixing AX10 shaft.
Here is my ideas, hope you like it. add a 12x18x4mm bearing on the shaft or use a 12mm spacer to fix the shaft failure. |

Cool idea, but does the outer edge snag on stuff?

Why use a bearing for this? You just put a bearing on there because u had it lying around. Thats silly. Keep your bearings for where they belong.... and anyway, a slick metal bearing isn't going to stay there after dragging it across rocks all day. You gotta get your "bearings" straight man!!! If anything, us a plastic coil isolater around each yoke, and tack it in place in a few spots with super glue. 1. Buy a bag or two or Traxxas Stampede Long half shafts. 2. For your driveshafts, Use TWO female pieces, cut one down about 1/2" shorter. 3. Use ONE male shaft with the yoke removed in the center to join the two females. 4. You should put a small spring (1/2" long) inside each end of the female shafts to keep the male "slipper" in place, centered. 4.Buy 4 Traxxas Stampede metal yokes too. Done. This won't break, pull out or give you any grief. Last edited by Barillms; 10-31-2007 at 12:07 PM. |

I had a driveshaft pop off and instead of fooling with it, I just replaced them with Jato shafts. I used the steel pede yokes and drilled the pinion for a through screw instead of the grub screws. Works great so far!

A hole in your output shafts is severly weakening the shaft. YOu're removing maybe 40% of the material in one small location making up the bulk of the shaft that is constanly under twisting stain. So now, instead of twisting a yoke, or a shaft, you're going to break a output shaft... and thats definately not good. That's Bad idea #2. The grub screws aren't going anywhere if you have good allen driver, and use lots of locktite. The Jato shafts is good, but drilling.... ahh, no. |

Super glue sticks to oily metal really good... So, definately thats the way to go. If you have any other ideas, PM me. Last edited by Barillms; 10-31-2007 at 03:26 PM.

We've drilled holes in the input/output shafts for years. (TLT shafts) The Pede driveshaft gives out before the drilled shaft. Heck, Pede transmissions have their output already drilled from Traxxasssss.

Heck, I've stripped all the teeth off of a TLT pinion before breaking the actual pinion shaft.

Guys, he's talking about super gluing ball bearings to his yokes. Now that's funny. |

a bearing is a little big dont you think. you want something low profile so it doesn't get caught on rocks |

Yeah even a small zip tie is way smaller than that giant bearing. I run a zip tie on the one at the rear axle (only one I popped ever) and still it clears fine.
