Default Reign in the UK!

Just finished this one for my boy. Good old father xmas! Loving the low CoG of the stock J2-TT chassis, but wanted to narrow it some. I removed part of the left side centre bracing allowing the motor to overhang very slightly. I then fabed a new narrower skid from 8mm Delrin, with cut-outs for inboard link mounts. Width is now down from 90 to 65mm. Mucho improvement. Doesn't appear to affect the overall rigidity. These chassis's are built like a brick shathouse! I also angle cut the chassis ends, below the shock mounts as this was binding on the shocks.
Hit the rocks today, and man, it's killer. Did all i asked from it. Suspension is very good. No torque twist, climbs, side hills, and break-over are all excellent.
Let us know what you guys think?

Specs as follows;
Reign J2-TT chassis, modified.
8mm Delrin custom skid.
Axial bent lower links on rear, stock front lowers bent, (slightly).
RCP rear straight axle adapters.
TCS Delrin split battery mounts.
TCS Delrin upper link boomerang mount.
TCS Delrin upper link/servo mount.
RC4WD aluminium knuckles.
RC4WD aluminium c's.
RC4WD 2.2 beadlocks.
Losi Rock Claws.
Max big bore shocks, Losi white front springs and yellow rear. 30wt oil all round. 40wt in left rear, with a little spring pre-load.
Integy Pro Matrix 45T motor.
M-Tronic Eco20 ESC.
Hi-Tec HS 645MG servo.
Losi aluminium servo horn.
Hi-Tec HFS-03MT rx.
8 cell 1400mah 2/3a split battery pack.
Deans connectors.
Stock gearing.
HPI bug body.
Think that's all...

Oh yeah...some pics.

man i really like your rig...i bought the same reign j2-tt chassis to convert my ax10 but i did the CKRC mod on the front page and tho i'm happy with that mod....i'm wondering if performance would still be improved with the j2-tt.....being still basically pretty new to this i'm really not sure i would notice a difference...lol..but seeing your rig makes me just want to convert mine over to the j2-tt....thanks for the great pics
...also you know you have 1 claw backwards on the front ?
...one more question please.....did your wheelbase stay at 12 1/2" ...looks short for some reason...thanks

Thanks. Wheelbase is bang on 12 1/2, (used a jig for the build). I say give your J2-tt a try. I also had a stage 2 modded, then a home custom chassis. But this one is the best of the lot.

Oh yeah..just noticed the claws too.

If you run with the stock width then it should go together fine. If however you use the axial standoffs and reduce the width, then you will probably have upper shock clearence issues. Look at Kaetwo's build and notice the area i modified below the upper shock mounts. Good luck with it.

I've been thinking and looking at this chassis for a while now and I can't make my mind up which way I want to go J2-TT or Bender SW3.So you guys really like the J2-TT I would like to run it in stock form for now using my ax-10 parts. I really like the low COG on that chassis

Keeping the CoG low is key, i think. As i said, it does everything i asked from it. You could still narrow it some from stock using the ax tranny, without hacking the chassis. I say give it a try.

No torque twist with this set-up. Lengthen the uppers a little, i used the 6mm spacers front and rear, plus an extra 5mm on the rears. This will also lift the pinion angle up. Then just dial the suspension in. Good to go. Post up you're build when you get it.

Thought it was a joint design. Still full marks in my book.
