They really don't help approach, but I think they would come into play when you get your front tires up and over an obstacle, like a log or a ledge or something like that. The goal is to keep the tires in contact with the ground, so they can propel the truck.

NO the bent links dont help approach angle they only help with ground clearance. your approach angle is determined by what point your tires contact given obstacle. A 90* approach is if your tires hit before anything else. Take a shoe box or something else that is 90* if your tires hit before the drag link or tie rod you have a 90* approach. If not take a protactor or angle finder and determine what that number might be. Your body or bumers if you have them might be a hindering factor in approach angle. You can also determinr your departure angle the same way. Both are improtant in rc as well as 1:1

I run bent links front and rear. I agree they do not help break over but they do seem to really work well for ground clearance. I would recommend trying the front and rear.

Cool thanks. I have bents in the rear and they do help for clearance. Ive been thinking of going to super softs in the rear also, they seemed to help up front. I read somewhere in this forum that bents in the front make your chassis stuff onto an obstacle so I was wondering if anyone has had that problem.

No. The bent links will act exactly like the straight ones if the eye to eye length is the same.I run home built solid stainless steel ones front and rear and the only differance from the straight ones is they don't drag on things near as much.
